It’s Podcast Tip Friday ⭐️🎈🎊

You’ve spent all this time recording and editing your episode, and now it’s time to press publish and breathe that sigh of relief.

Unfortunately, before your episode goes “live” there is one more thing you need to do, and that is listen to your episode.

But whyyyyyyyy?????

I know adding another step into the mix can be a pain in the ass, but there are things that can go wrong or things that you might forget before you hit publish. When you’re crossing off a million things on your to-do list it’s easy to forget something, and you might not realize it until after you publish.

You don't want to put in all the effort into that episode, only to find out that what your listener is hearing is not what you intended for them to hear.

So, don't forget to check your audio before publishing.

How do I monetize my podcast?

For someone who's been in the podcasting world for a while, the next step they start to look into is monetizing.

Now I’m gonna be honest with you, the truth is most podcasts don't make any money at all. However, that doesn't mean it can't happen for you because it can. Here are 6 ways on how to make money with your podcast.

Referral Sponsorships
Traditional Sponsorships
Selling your own products
Selling your own services (to listeners)
Selling your own services (to guests)
Sell your guests products as an affiliate

Just remember your show is about the listeners. Every podcaster needs a way to support their show, but the most successful ones out there still respect their listeners.

I mean the audience is what keeps your show going. It’s not about you, it's about your guests, it’s about your listeners and what they gain from investing their time with you.

One of the common questions I get asked is “How do I launch a podcast?

Podcast listenership continues to grow, and currently over 90 million people listen to a podcast every month. Whether you’re a business owner who’s looking to grow their audience, or a hobbyist who wants to share their passion with others, you don’t need to be a technical person, nor does it require a lot of money.

When starting a podcast, the bare minimum you need is:

✅ Coming up with the right concept (name of show and format)
✅ Artwork
✅ Recording and editing your audio. You do need a microphone
✅ Determine hosting platform
✅ Create an RSS feed so they can be distributed throughout various platforms

You don't need to be an established content creator or have a successful blog to be a podcaster. All you need is the passion and desire to create a great podcast. Hopefully, these steps will help give you an idea on where to start.

Still unsure on where to start when launching your podcast? Or have other questions DM me and I would like to chat.

The only podcasters that can get away with not engaging with their listeners are celebrities. So unless you are lucky enough to fall into that category then engagement with your listeners should be a top priority if you want to grow your audience.

Yes, the content of your show matters also matters, and without it, your listeners would have anything to resonate with. However, sometimes it’s easy to get caught in the planning and promoting your show, you start to neglect those who tune into your show regularly.

If you go above and beyond to build relationships with your audience, they will become the driving force to help your podcast grow. They’re the ones that will listen to every single episode, they will post on social media, and share with their family and friends.

Here are some listener engagement strategies that you can use to connect with your audience.

👉 Answering emails, DMs, and messages

👉 Featuring listeners questions in episodes

👉 Hosting an “Ask me Anything” session

👉 Live streaming podcast episodes

👉 How are you engaging with your listeners?

Let’s face it

Creating a podcast takes a lot of time and hard work. Now as a podcast I’m sure you are talented, bright, and you have some amazing ideas. But what happens when reality sets in and you realize you are wearing too many hats and spreading yourself too thin?

You become tired, exhausted, and agitated. Now, what does that result in?

You’re going to want to take a break from podcasting due to the initial burnout, and that is something we don’t want to happen.

So how do you deal with all the necessary tasks it takes to produce, plan, and create a podcast?

The solution is easy…..outsource

Here are 5 tasks that you can outsource today with a podcast manager

Organize and Communicate with Guests
Research
Post- Production
Content Distribution
Follow-Up with Guests

Starting to feel the burn-out? Message me if you’re ready to outsource. I would love to chat

Every day people are thinking about starting a podcast. However, there is always a reason NOT to. That’s why it never gets put on the to-do list.

So what’s stopping them?

A majority of the time it’s because of timing issues and not feeling like they are techy enough to take on a podcast.

Of course, these are all valid concerns. But I want to share with you the 4 reasons WHY you should start a podcast today.

Expanding your reach - There is no greater feeling in the world when you start connecting to your audience via your podcast, and when they find you based on word of mouth.

You can be yourself - Your listeners feel like they know you because being a podcaster can be personal and intimate. Creating that connection with people builds trust and loyalty,

Your voice is needed - Anyone with a strong point of view on something can start a podcast. What do you think about the industry? What would you change if you had a magic wand? These are the types of conversations people want to hear.

It’s real - Some of the best podcasts are popular because they are real, and not afraid of holding back. You can laugh and take your audience on an adventure. They feel the energy and passion you bring to the topics you discuss.

So what’s stopping you from starting a podcast?

📣 Announcement 📣

A small change is about to make a big impact: no more “subscribe” as podcasting follows. The new wording will be released next month and is currently in beta testing.

But why?

👉 Currently, 47% of people who don’t currently listen to podcasts think that “subscribing” to the podcast will cost money. Today Apple, Spotify, and Youtube are the most widely used services to listen to podcasts. Podcasters will have no choice but to adapt their language accordingly.

👉 So what does that mean for you?

Take a look at your podcast descriptions, listen to your intro, and outro and see if you are using the word subscribe. If so, I would then recommend recording a new one. If you have a website or a newsletter be sure to change it on there as well.

If you are just starting out and getting ready to record your podcast, make sure you’re not using the word “subscribe”

Umms is what we like to call a filler word. Filler words can be a huge topic to talk about in the podcasting industry. However, people often ask do you leave these words?

Now if you want my opinion, I would say……..Yes!!!!!

The truth is some podcasters think that taking out all the “Umms” justifies editing their podcast. Now, please don’t be one of these people, because podcast editing is so much more than just taking out the filler words.

The reason why many new podcasters take forever to edit their podcasts is that they believe they need to cut out every “Um” in their audio, and this makes the editing process last twice as long. Now, I get it you want your audio to sound perfect but having the right content and delivery of that content is more important than taking out all the filler words.

Also, if you take out every filler word in your audio, it begins to sound choppy and very unnatural.

This is why I saw it’s not important to take every “Um” out of your audio. It’s a very natural flow of conversation, we all use the word on everyday…..I know I do 🤣🤣🤣 So why do we care if our favorite podcast uses the term? 🤷‍♀️

Do you embrace the word “Um”???

Creating a high-quality podcast is a great way to introduce yourself and your podcast to new listeners. Just like the fans of hit TV shows such as Friends, Cheers, and Games of Thrones who are singing along to their favorite television shows, you want your audience to be humming along to your show.

Here are three of the biggest mistakes I see when making podcast intros:

🎧 Intro is too long - The purpose of a podcast intro is to invite your listeners to your episode and create that anticipation of waiting for the next episode to come out. But after 30 seconds of background music and voice overs, the intrigue turns into “When is the podcast going to start?” Your intro needs to have a quick pace to it. Don't let your podcast overstay its welcome.

🎧 Music is too Loud - Using theme music with a voiceover is a great complement to the intro, but when mixed incorrectly the music can come off as too loud. Music files will always have a louder setting than the audio. So unless you drop the music volume it can overpower your narration.

🎧 Using copyrighted intro music - A very common beginner mistake is thinking its ok to use copyrighted music as long as the “tweak it” a little bit. But here’s the truth - unless you get permission from the artist or recording label themselves, you can't use it. There are plenty of royalty free music options you can use, such as Audiojungle.net to find the right music for your podcast intro.

Having trouble with your intro?

Feel free to DM me. I'd love to help you out 🙂

Did you know that over 800,000 podcasts exist, and that number continues to grow daily? There is a podcast for almost every topic out there, from true-crime, comedy, sports, history, and mom podcasts. Thousands of shows are well thought out, have real on-air budgets and talents, and others are amateur lobbyists who want to share their passion with the world.

The truth is you can start a podcast today with an idea, computer, and a microphone, but before you do, make sure to ask yourself these five questions first.

So you’re probably starting to realize that podcasts 🎙️ are popping up everywhere and you've been thinking about starting one.

🌟 The average length of your podcast episodes - This varies with every show.

🌟 Marketing every new episode release.

Lastly, make sure you celebrate🎉 your accomplishment. Launching a podcast is hard work and you should be proud of yourself for making that commitment. So get out there and celebrate your accomplishment. YOU DESERVE IT!!!!

Calling all podcasters!!! 🗣

👉👉Let’s talk about the 3 reasons why you should consider hiring a podcast manager.

The image of a podcast producer may look different from other people. To some, a podcast producer may be the latest app or software. To others, it could be a freelancer or someone who is paid a high salary to help you set up your podcast.

While many of these elements are true, a podcast manager is there to help create the vision of the podcast from start to finish. In other words, a podcast manager is like the glue that holds everything together.

Here are the 3 benefits of hiring a podcast manager:

1. Oversee podcast production - Growing a podcast from start to finish can be very time-consuming. A podcast producer is someone who has the vision and someone who oversees the process from start to finish.

2. Podcast Editing and post-production - Once the vision of the show is created, the podcast needs to be prepared. This involves editing, show notes, uploading, creating intros and outros, and creating strong content for the show to be a success.

3. Freedom - This is the most important one. Your time is unlimited and a podcast manager can help free up your time so you can focus more on the show. All you have to do is show up, record, and we can handle the rest.

Ok, so I don’t know about you guys, but I was not cut out for the 9-5 lifestyle.

The truth is I lived this lifestyle back in California. I had a job with a somewhat steady income that paid the bills and allowed me weekends off. Now don’t get me wrong, I was grateful for my job, and the people I worked with were like my second family. Truthfully, the people were the reason why I worked there for so long.

But I wasn’t happy. I was just like every other working adult, waking up early, making coffee, getting dressed, and trying to beat the clock so I wouldn’t be stuck in over an hour of traffic every morning. Sometimes coming home it would take me two hours to get home. This gave me just enough time to see my husband, eat dinner, go to bed, and wake up to do it all over again. I was miserable.

When my husband and I moved to the East Coast I went back and forth on what type of job I would get. Thankfully, I was upgraded to the position of mommy 😃 and stayed home with my son. I always knew that one day I would have to go back to work, but the idea of going back to the dreaded 🤦‍♀️ 9-5 work-life, and barely seeing my son was not an option for me.

I wanted to make a change with my life and I found something that not only do I truly LOVE ❤️ doing but something I’m good at. This is my life!! A life where I don’t have to answer to anyone else but myself, a life that I’m not stuck in hours of traffic every day, and even better a life where I get to pick up my son from school every day.

There are so many ways that we can support ourselves, don’t let anyone else fool you that you need to follow the 9-5 crowd.

Cheers 🍾to those who are not cut out of the 9-5 lifestyle and doing something to change it

No Pinterest worthy office space for me 👩🏼‍💻 (don’t get me wrong I’m totally jealous of them) lol

My day usually consists of sitting on the couch, feet on the coffee table, toys 🧸 on the floor, dogs 🐕 sleeping by my feet, and music 🎶 playing in the background (not when I’m editing of course 🤣🤣)

The truth is it doesn’t matter where you work, as long as you get the work done 💪

I get this particular question a lot. So I wanted to shed some light on exactly what it is that I do.

So here’s the most simple explanation that I can give you on exactly what a podcast manager does.

Podcasts have exploded in the last two years. Everywhere you turn around a new podcast is booming, whether it is business, true crime, self-help, and so on. Many podcasters will tell you that there is no shortage of video tutorials or content articles that can teach you the podcasting basics.

The reality of starting a podcast is exciting, but managing a podcast can also be very time-consuming. This is where podcast managers come into play. A podcast manager acts like an administrator and technical director. They can handle responsibilities such as editing, show notes, uploading, graphics, promotions, and guest management.

In a nutshell, a podcast manager can do wonderful things for your podcast. Not only can they save you time, but this can also allow you some free time to focus on other aspects of the show.

I get these questions a lot

When people ask me what I do for a living. My response is to tell them how I work from home as a virtual assistant. Then the same question always follows, “What is a virtual assistant?”

My answer is, “It’s exactly what it sounds. As a virtual assistant, it is my task to help business owners with everyday tasks.” These tasks can include email management, content creation, calendar management, social media management, and more. When they hear this, the initial reaction is, “wait people pay you to do this for them.” Then I follow it up with a simple, yes.

The truth is a virtual assistant can have a wide range of skills, that’s why it’s hard to give one clear description. Some VA’s will specialize in travel, while others are good with numbers and help with bookkeeping. Other VA’s will specialize in all social media platforms, while other VA’s will only help with Pinterest management.

Now I want to be completely honest. Bookkeeping is not my thing. Neither are travel arrangements or course creation. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a virtual assistant out there for you. So don't be afraid to hire one.

However, what I specialize in is podcast management. I help female entrepreneurs launch and manage their podcasts to help grow their business. I also help with social media management, content creation, repurposing content, blogs, public relations, and email management.

If you a VA drop a comment below on what you specialize in. If your not a VA, tell me what you would like to specialize in
