Maura is thinking about her father on what would have been his 94th birthday and how he would be vacuuming when she got home from school on Fridays. Nice to learn it may have had a bigger impact than anticipated. Thanks Dad.

I can't stop looking at this guy . . . just one of many we encountered on the trip of a lifetime. More pix to follow . . . but this fellow was just lying on the side of the road, digesting his meal, and (lol) peeing himself (see photo two)

And it was Maura’s turn to see the Broadway musical Suffs, chronicling the long and complicated history of how women got the right to vote in the United States. We should remember the brave and determined women like Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt, Lucy Burns, Doris Stevens, Mary Church Terrell and so many more, who may not have made it into our history books.

Ask most working American parents what the biggest stressor and problem is . . . and likely they will respond childcare. More specifically, finding affordable, convenient, high-quality care for their children- before and during the school-age years. The United States is one of the few rich nations that does not provide childcare support (other than an inadequate Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit). For working families, absent employer-based programs, parents are on their own.

In this episode, we speak with Tiffany S.W. Hamilton, the CEO of the YWCA White Plains and Central Westchester about the state and future of the childcare dilemma. Tiffany is also a wife, mother, and DEI expert.

A friend suggested I see the musical Suffs, written and performed by Shaina Taub, chronicling the American women's suffrage movement leading up to the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in 1920.

During my tenure as President of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck League of Women Voters we celebrated the anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment with a showing of HBO‘s Iron Jawed Angels. Hearing the story again one applauds the tenacity of these woman.
