Every Saturday, Jim Bartlett & Magic 98 open the vault of great 70s music and we play it all, from Woodstock to the Carpenters, Barry White to Barry Manilow, and ABBA to ZZ Top.

On this National Day of Mourning, we remember 70s icon Jimmy Carter. His presidency, which did not look so great while it was happening, has benefited from the judgment of history, including his peacemaking efforts in the Middle East and his commitments to the environment and to diversity. It wasn't all great, but it wasn't all terrible either.

Carter was also the first rock and roll president, as a 2020 documentary described him. The story of his connections with some southern rockers and the documentary trailer are in the comments. //Jim

This week in 1975, Elton John had the #1 album in America with his first Greatest Hits collection (pictured). He also had the #1 song in America in collaboration with John Lennon, who had joined him onstage at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving weekend. Friends, that's a wrap on Saturday at the 70s. I am deeply grateful to all who called, e-mailed, and Facebooked during our last show. And equally grateful to everyone who listened to the show these past three years. If you'd like to hear my end-of-the-show farewell, you'll find the link in the comments. Friends, I have some news.

Tomorrow night will be the *last* Saturday at the 70s show. Nothing lasts forever, in radio or in life, and it's time for us to bring the show to an end. I am pleased to report that following an absence of several years, Elvis has returned to Magic 98 for Christmas. The holiday season used to start with the ceremonial lighting of Elvis, who was festooned with Christmas lights outside the Magic office. This year he's on the door of our studio. And he'll be there Saturday night for the Saturday at the 70s Christmas Party. Hope you will be too. //Jim
