Cheers to September, Virgo season & International Cap Classique Day! 🥂🥂🥂
South Africa celebrates International Cap Classique Day every year on September 1st and what better way for us in the States to close out our summer season.
Everyone that knows my wine journey knows I am a Sparkling Wine Fanatic!
Cap Classique is my go to sparkling wine when I don’t want to spend champagne money champagne.🥂🥂🥂
🥂Cap Classique Fun Facts 🥂
This first Cap Classique, released in 1973 by Simonsig under the name Kaapse Vonkel (“Cape Sparkle”).
Cap Classique is made in the traditional method of sparkling wine production. This means that the second fermentation happens in the bottle, just like in Champagne.
Cap Classique sparkling does not have restrictions on what grapes are used to make the delicious bubbly stuff. At first there was a lot of Chenin Blanc, but now there is more South African sparkling wine made from the same grapes as Champagne; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
My food pairing for these amazing bubbles: sweet and sour chicken, caviar, salmon, sushi, strawberries and cream, perfect for brunch, grilled shrimp, strawberry shortcake ice cream, crème brûlée
