WQFL DB Quest for Love Radio

WQFL DB Quest for Love Radio The Quest for Love Tour was established by the Duncan L. Wood Band in early 2019 and has quickly become a local hit.

The band's musical styles include country, gospel, rock, blues, classical, and flamenco. Influenced by community, culture, faith, and the eclectic sounds of its members' varied musical tastes and experiences, the Duncan L. Wood Band performs songs that speak to people from all walks of life and across generations. However, the Quest for Love Tour is more than a band or a concert tour. Duncan, Herb

, John, and Mark are devoted to bringing God's message of love to the world and doing so in a way that is both inspiring and relevant. That is to say, the Quest for Love Tour is more than a musical event; it is a place to encounter God's presence, better understand God's grace, and seek God's love. The band's motto is simple: "Seeking God's heart of love through music."

I preached a sermon a few years ago where I talked about finishing well. Well, in his last public performance at the 2023 People's Choice Awards, country music legend Toby Keith finished well in this touching goodbye to his fans. If you have not watched this video, you need to stop what you're doing and watch it. It's one of the most moving musical and human performances I've ever seen. May none of us ever let the old man in.

Country legend Toby Keith's final television performance was during the PCCAs in 2023. Listen to him sing ''Don't Let the Old Man In'' here.

I have tried to live out this principle in my life, though my ex*****on has admittedly been imperfect. The addendum, however, is that those who apply it will be ostracized, marginalized, vilified, and/or gaslighted by those within both the church and the larger culture. There are real consequences for those who speak and act on conscience. Bonhoeffer's consequences were imprisonment and (later) death at the hands of his N**i opponents. Nevertheless, I would rather live with the fear of reprisal than the guilt of capitulation. Would that Bonhoeffer's courage were demonstrated by more people today...especially those within the church.

A few years ago, my band recorded a single called "With Love" that speaks to God's love for His people and the beauty of the cross. I can't think of a better time of year to consider the song's message. I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch this short music video.

You'll want to read this article about what I call "The Chipotle Principle." Have you had similar experiences in life? How do we demand excellence in an increasingly online world where businesses and other organizations are separated by virtual-temporal "distance" from their consumers/users? I believe this is a problem with which we must grapple now before we travel too far down a road with no cul-de-sac.

I am a diehard Chipotle fan. In my opinion, there are few meals better than a Chipotle bowl with brown rice, black beans, veggies, chipotle chicken, mild salsa, corn, cheese, and guacamole...and more guacamole...and maybe just a little more guacamole. And virtually every time I have my bowl prepared...

In my opinion, Chicago is one of the top-10 rock-n-roll bands in history, and "25 or 6 to 4" is one of the top-20 songs of all time. Although much has been made about this song's lyrics, I believe Robert Lamm (the song's writer) provides the best insight and its most profound message. What can we learn about life from Chicago? Read this short article to find out. And, if you're so inclined, please share it with your friends. Enjoy!

In an interview not too many years ago, Robert Lamm, keyboardist and songwriter for the award-winning rock-n-roll band Chicago, noted that he wrote the band's Top-10 song "25 or 6 to 4" (listen here) in tribute to the many sleepless nights he spent feverishly trying to conjure the lyrics for a song....

I started this three-part series well over a year ago but never got to the third story. So, here it is. This was indeed one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. I hope you enjoy.

I've been thinking a great deal about trauma lately. I'm not completely sure why, but the topic has been invading my thoughts for weeks. As I've read and thought more and more about it, I've started to recall several traumatic stories from my life...events that changed me in both positive and negati...

Although Forrest Gump analogized life with a box of chocolates, I prefer to think of it more like a melody. In this blog article, I explain my comparison and hopefully offer some inspiration along the way. We've all messed up in life, but unless you're in the grave, you still have time to make things right. Won't you take a few minutes to read this short article? Enjoy!

For a number of years now, I have served as the drummer and occasional lead or background vocalist for the Duncan L. Wood Band, which is based in Elon, VA, just north of Lynchburg, VA (see www.quest4lovetour.com). When I first began practicing and performing with this formidable group of iron-clad m...

In a world filled with darkness and regret, peace is still available. We just have to know where to look. I hope you'll take a few minutes to read and consider this short article. Maybe it'll help you find peace where I did. Enjoy!

As a good, American-made, Bible-believing Christian, I have always found comfort in the Pauline doctrine of ubiquitous, supernatural peace. The Apostle Paul famously proclaimed to the church at Philippi that through thanksgiving, prayer, and rejoicing, the people of God can find "the peace of God, w...

This is a little piece for my brothers and sisters in arms. Please note that I do not write this for myself. I do not want personal accolades. I write this for the men and women with whom I've served over the years. It would be impossible for me to count the number of extraordinary Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have suffered my company in the last couple of decades. To each of them, I tip my hat and say, "Thank you!" We hold our freedoms close because you in large extent let yours go.

When most people--even those within the ranks--consider the matter of personal sacrifice as it relates to military service, notions of dangerous training exercises, long deployments, "compulsory" family neglect, and combat action typically come to mind. And these indeed represent some of the potenti...

Sometimes life's most inspirational people are not who we expect, but they are always who we need. Here's the story of one of the most inspirational people in my life recently. Enjoy!

I first met Ike Blessitt while attending a spring training "fan camp" for the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, FL, in February 2016. Although a lifelong Tigers fan, I had never heard of Ike. And after learning of his professional-baseball history, I knew why. Although Ike had made it to "the Show" in 197...

I'm back in the saddle of blog writing again! Have you ever had that life event to occur that changed your perspective forever? Well, it happened to me about a month ago. If you want to know what changed this man, then take a look at this week's blog. I hope you enjoy!

The Irish band U2 has claimed that it still hasn't found what it's looking for for almost four decades now (lavish alliteration intended...haha!!). Although I doubt the truth of this claim--U2 has certainly found its place in rock-n-roll history, found its voice in the fight against poverty and bigo...

A few thoughts on lessons of faith that I learned on January 2, 2023, when Damar Hamlin was struck by a heart attack during the Bills vs. Bengals game in Cincinnati. God is always poised to teach us something if we're willing to see and listen. And now more than ever, God's people need to open their eyes and ears to His Truth.

When I saw Damar Hamlin collapse during the Bills vs. Bengals game on January 2, 2023, I thought for sure he was dead. Watching the hardened, grid-iron boys on both sides of the contest break down in tears, seeing the 6'6" Mitch Morse consolingly embrace cornerback Tre'Davious White, and observing t...

A post-Christmas tribute to our world's educators (at all levels). You are some of the most crucial members of our society. Don't ever forget the tremendously important role you play in motivating the next generation. This blog article is intended as a thank you and a challenge to each of you.

As a senior high school student, I had an English teacher who was--shall I say--less than ideal. For whatever reason(s), she seemingly made it her mission in life to discourage me in my writing abilities. My essays and literature reviews were regularly given less-than-stellar marks, and her condesce...

A little thought for Christmas. May we all seek to demonstrate the love that Christ showed us!

When people think about Christmas, they don't typically consider it from a legal perspective. Let's face it, as seemingly corrupt and as unquestionably convoluted as the American legal system has become in recent decades, it seems almost sacrilege to bring the two (i.e., law and Christmas) within ev...

It has been a while since I last posted, but here you go! This is a bit sentimental, a bit artistic, a bit dangerous, and all genuine. Enjoy!

I realize I have not posted since April of this year. Truthfully, I lost my inspiration. Life, ministry, and other work have so burdened my family and me the last eight months that I took a needed hiatus. And I'm not yet through with the hiatus, but what I have to say today has so burned its mark in...
