Here at The Local Woman, we value community and the unique voices that make it vibrant. My mission as host is to highlight these voices, connect listeners to local resources, and celebrate the businesses that create memorable moments.
As I look back on the month of May, I am grateful for the peaceful mornings at Oh Honey Baking Co. While their delicious breakfast biscuits, donuts, and coffee initially drew me in, it’s the warm sense of community that makes this place special. I get there early, around 7am, before the morning rush, when the day still feels fresh and full of promise. It’s like the song says: “Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.” This feeling of belonging makes my morning visits so meaningful.
Adding to the magic is listening to Johnny Davis, the talented guitarist and vocalist of CHOIR OF BABBLE, who recorded The Local Woman theme song, sing and hum along to some of my favorite songs by Band of Horses and The Postal Service. These comforting moments bring back fond memories of my college days working at Starbucks, where I learned valuable skills that helped me create community and connection.
Tune in next week as we continue Season 3 and explore past seasons to meet the incredible women (and occasionally men) we interview, and discover why being local matters to us.
