The woman I was would be scared of the woman I have become ⬇️

I used to lose sleep over conversations, replaying them over and over - overthinking how I said what

I used to seek for validation from others before pursuing things I desired.

I used to place my value in what others would say about me/perceive me.

I shed that exoskeleton so fast when I realized I was meant for MORE.

So much more, that I pretty much put myself in the EXACT scenario I needed to force growth. Sink or swim, if you will.

Motherhood has changed me. Marriage has changed me. Entrepreneurship has changed me.

I saw the future .

I saw what my life was going to look like if we didn’t see a change.

⏪ rewind to four years ago.
I was pregnant with my first. James and I both were working doubles, busting out butts to get by.

I had always wanted to work for myself so j pursued my photography in hopes to have it up and running by the time baby was born.

I loved the creative expression photography gave me but reality was, I was still working on someone else’s time and providing a service to someone else.
Not only did this feel like I didn’t have the time freedom for my life, but it wasn’t fitting into “being my own boss” the way I wanted.

I had my baby girl Then the global shutdown happened.

James and I both became unemployed with no idea what was next.

So I took the $36 I had in my bank account and jumped head first into what I intuitively knew was going to bring us out of the paycheck to paycheck life.

If I hadn’t, we would probably still be living paycheck to paycheck. Our relationship would be strained. We both would be working - James definitely pulling overtime all the time still. And overall we would be living so far out of alignment for our family and our values!

When I invested- James wasn’t on board naturally. It didn’t make sense.

But ultimately the deep intuitive burning I felt is what I let guide me. Prayer and faith and RADICAL action.

Legacy Builders — me and my man ❤️‍🔥 my king.

It’s a wild thing to join a life to another’s.

We’ve never wanted to cookie cutter life. We tried the college thing and it wasn’t for us.

We both thrive in passion-filled work and needed a way to create that reality.

4 years ago I started working online - totally blindly. I had no idea what I was doing but I went full blown focused on using this to build a different life for us.

Not only has it created financial stability online for us - it has opened dreams that we had buried and started to walk away from.

3 years ago I ruined my life. ⬇️

I took a look around and saw a life that was stagnant and growing algae.

I saw a home built on a foundation of fear and lack.

I saw relationships functioning from pride and hurt.

So I lit a match + burned it to the ground.

I decided to rebuild and use something new to create the stability I needed.

No more long work days that turn to exhausting work weeks that turn into lonesome work years.

No more handing our schedule over to someone else.

No more selling our time for a dollar.

No more waiting for something to happen and change.

I took action and plunged myself way over my head and trusted I’d learn to swim align the way —

And I did.

I didn’t give it another option, the old life was done and there was no way I was going to build that again.

3 years ago, I started working online

not only did I burn my life and all the crap I believed to the ground in the process, but i intentionally set a new foundation.

One of belief, resilience, and humility.

🚫JOB SECURITY:
If the past 3 years has taught us anything it’s that being an employee does NOT create security in your income.

You expose yourself to someone else having the say on when you work, if you work, and how much you get paid.

Did you know Amazon just had a mass lay-off of ❕18,000 people?

to “streamline costs and took into account the uncertain economy, as well as the “uncertainty that exists in the near future,”

This is a company worth $1.13 trillion….

But being employed by big companies like this would feel cozy, secure.. right? 👀

Also, I believe that We’ve outgrown this notion that if you go to college you’ll get a career and work it until you retire.

James and I both were NOT into college. We both tried and we both recognized that it wasn’t the path for us.

I know there are so many people out there who know in their bones that college route wasn’t for them… so WHY would this be the end all be all standard for creating a secure future????

Not to mention that a degree doesn’t even leave you with certainty for a job.

I’ve seen time and time again people graduating college, struggling to find a job in their field.

Times have changed, options are wider, and people are realizing that they don’t fit into the mold of the “standard” career path

My dad was gone working a LOT. He passed away when I was 17.

I don’t feel like I ever really got to KNOW him.

When I got pregnant, I knew deeply that James working 40+ hour weeks wasn’t going to be the standard. It couldn’t be.

All I ever wanted for them was to give them time to know each other.

For my husband and my daughter to bond and create their own memories.

Employee life wasn’t going to give us that freedom, so I did something about it.

A year after starting my online business James quit his last employee job he’d work.

We agreed that he would work again, but it would be something of his OWN, pursuing his passions, and it would give him time freedom to prioritize our family.

Nights like this, watching them hang out so casually, chatting about things like old friends… my heart bursts for what we’ve created.

Our children will know their parents. Both of us. 🕯️✨

Three years ago, I was 8 month pregnant.

I was overworked, stressed, exhausted, lost, desperate, and searching for a change.

It became blindingly clear that the life I craved for my family wouldn’t come from the same cycles we created for ourselves.

Things needed to change.

So 8 weeks postpartum - with $36 in my bank account, I went all in on something that everyone said would fail.

On paper it was a mistake.

How many of us grew up with a parent that was always gone working?

He would come home exhausted + we were left with 2 days to spend time together and make the most of ..

It didn’t take long to realize that the standard needed to change.

With our family growing, it dawned on me that if things stayed this way our children would have a very small perspective on who their dad was in their life.

He would be gone more than he was home.

All the daily moments, big events, and occasions would have to fall behind his work schedule.

And it felt like it wasn’t even worth it.

A single stream of income just isn’t enough to build on towards goals of owning a home, investing in quality groceries, being able to give extravagantly…

I woke up and realized we were never going to reach our goals as a family if things didn’t change AND our children would grow up with a father, though hard working, could feel like an accessory to their life instead of a pillar.

So I did something about it.

I wanna ask, what feelings were your first response to this photo? Odds are, most of us feel a bit uneasy.

So many of hold onto money mindsets that don’t serve us - but teach us to fear money.

Someone said yesterday, “you don’t really ever spend money. It just circulates. You hold it, then release it. Then someone else holds it, and releases it”

I think that is an epic way to view it.

Now… it is our responsibility to handle our money with respect and wisdom BUT fear often disguises itself as wisdom.

The truth is, to make money you HAVE TO SPEND MONEY. and truly it’s an investment in your belief of yourself.

And when you make money holding and using it in a way that builds is what will bring you deeper into financial success.

We’re in the final weeks, and a new season is coming upon us that we are welcoming with open arms.

I can’t help but think that God’s timing and this pregnancy are so in line with what is happening spiritually for our family.

I’ve noticed it’s become trendy to be a homemaker. ⬇️ Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but what bothers me is the content I see being put out that insinuates that women have to find fulfillment in it. Ultimately it’s taken me a decade to get to the point of balance I am in regarding this and a decade of conflict in my heart and mind on how to “woman” the right way. I’ve landed here: 🏠 fully in love with creating a safe home for my family, dedicated to raising empowered, loving children🫂pursuing my relationship with my husband that reflects humility trust (submission.
