It occurs to me that in the Old Testament you climb a mountain to get to God, now you have Jesus saying if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains…not a coincidence.

Andrew Murray writes in “Abiding in Christ,”
“the yoke [that] is easy, is actually the yoke which gives the rest.”

This is a new thought to me and a profound one. Many of us think of yokes as the instrument of work. But what if the yoke became the instrument for proximity? The yoke ties us to Christ. It’s the object that keeps us in step and near. What a wonderful thing to think on!!
Of course there is yielding involved in yoking…but it is more about gleaning from the one yoked with than forced submission. I can see the Holy Spirit in this yoke. The teacher, the bridge between the elder ox to us the younger naive ox. The yoke is easy.

2 Samuel 12:7 (ESV): 7 Nathan said to David, “You are the man!

Think about our saying….”You’re the man!!!!”
Is this haughty pride filled statement an affront against the Lord? Does He not hear our words and think on the wickedness done to Uriah? Rather than an admittance of guilt we parade our pride to another cloaking the pride in congratulations. This is a hidden wickedness among our people.

Last night I had a dream that I was with my family at “our house” and a police officer was outside and I thought I was in trouble. Shortly after, another came and stayed parked a while. We wondered what was happening thinking something was wrong. Just shortly a knock on the door and as I answered it one of them said can you bring your dogs inside… I called them in. Just a moment after I went outside next to them (and half a dozen other strangers) and there was over and across a big field above a large hill what seemed like a wave rolling across the sky…it was locusts. It turned the sky dark across their path.
The early locusts were not as many and I held my hand up to feel their number. They flew with such force as they flew into my hand it stung as though riding a motorcycle in the rain with bare skin. As I saw the countless number approaching I ran to the door and rushed inside (no others followed behind me. Just as I pulled the glass storm door shut they hit the house. It was like tornado force wind and collisions they created. The storm door rattled and wanted to force open with the glass nearly shattering…I forced the inner door closed and we were safe.

When what seemed like a long time passed the force stopped and I went outside to look. Those remaining outside had tried to create barricades to stop their impact. They lay d3@d. Suffocated from the swarm who had forced their way inside their mouths. Suddenly one was alive and rushed inside vomiting locusts trying to catch his breath. The dream ended.

I believe this dream was a glimpse at things either literal or figurative to come, nonetheless serious and perilous. There is only one Name under heaven where humanity can be saved, Jesus. He is the only true and safe house that can bring you in and ark you in times of destruction. Search your heart and see if you are in Him and He in you.

Did you know the devil doesn’t care if you’re a Christian?
Ask someone “Are you a Christian?” “Yes” they may say. Did you know they could still end up in hell? “How?” you may say.

A Christian is a title assigned by man.
Acts 11:26, “the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” Scholars tell us that was actually originated as a derogatory term. Jesus didn’t call them Christians. There may in fact be “Christians” in hell. It doesn’t matter what you’re called. Are you known by Jesus? Men called the disciples “Christians.”
You may be called or call yourself a Christian, but Jesus says in Matthew 7:22-23, “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
They called Him Lord, they did Christian things, but they weren’t known.

Don’t just think this is me trying to ruffle some feathers and it isn’t a game of semantics. There will be those who thought they were Christians but were in fact just titled. They had a title. They had not been born again.

Did you know that the King of Tyre, Hiram, was in relationship with King David and King Solomon (1 Kings 5)? “Hiram always loved David.” He sent timber for the temple that Solomon would build and Hiram said to Solomon “Blessed be the Lord this day, who has given to David a wise son to be over this great people.”

Then 17 kings later we find the contemporary of Ezekiel in the king of Ithobaal III. I submit

In 1 John 3:2 we read “…We will be like him, because we will see him as he is.”
This is deeply profound and simple. We will be like Jesus because we will see him rightly. It doesn’t say we will be like him by trying harder. It says we will be like him, because we will see him. This is the secret to the Christian life. Being more like Jesus is accomplished by seeing him more rightly.
Stay captivated by Him!

Luke 7:41-43
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

Do you think there are other right answers? I’ve always wrestled with the idea that someone forgiven more loves more. I think this is what I’d answer Jesus if He asked me.

The one who best understands they had a debt they couldn’t pay and what wretches they were.
