May I introduce.. My biggest photo project so far!! With over 40 hours of total work put into it! We have to go back 9 months, when I got the cool idea to photograph the night sky above Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Looking back now, I massively under estimated this objective. It turned out to be a far bigger challenge than expected. To begin, there couldn't be a moon or clouds on the day of the shoot. The waiting for this to happen alone, took months. But then on the 27th of February this year, the day was there! A perfect clear and clean sky with the moon under the horizon. And so it happend.. I arrived at the spot, set up the tripod as secure as I could, put down the Nikon Z6II with the 24-70 2.8 S, attached external power supply to make sure the battery wouldn't run out of power during the shoot. Pointed the camera in the right direction and started the timer.. Nothing can be changed from this point onwards. The only thing left to do now, was to wait for over 2 hours before the shutter would open and close one final time. And of course, hope everything will go right and some cool aircraft movements would happen. And it did! Way more perfect than I could've imagined. On the left, departures to the South and East. Taking off from the "Aalsmeerbaan" 18L-36R. And on the right, departures to the North and West. Taking off from the "Zwanenburgbaan" 18C-36C. Parallel departures!! A pretty rare sight.

Everything looked good..! But this can only be confirmed back at the computer. Luckily everything was just petfect and the editing could start. Well, that took literally days. Quite a lot of revisions. But this is the final result! Quite the achievement in the end. Everything I've learned as a photographer over the past 6 years, combined in one single image. It really, really won't get any better than this. Perfection above everything!! Enjoy the result, and off to the next project! 😊🤩

I couldn't believe it at first.. What the...* is that!? A skull, a ghost! Over 'BEO' her right shoulder... This has to be one of my craziest catches yet! Taken at 1000mm, covering a massive distance to the subject on a very, very hot day. The unimagineable happend and I cannot wait to print it out. "This goes on the wall!!". These are the moments we live for, this is why we photograph. We're freezing moments in time, and nothing can beat that. It's... magical...

“Sneak Pass” - Axalp 2023.
1.3 seconds. 26 frames. Once in a lifetime. Monday 16 October 2023 - 10:40. After a 3 hour hike, you arrive at the Ebenflüh. It’s quiet, peaceful, beautiful. The waiting begins, it’s a training day after all. Only a small number of photographers are on the mountain, waiting for the Hornets to come, unsure if they will… Suddenly, Hornets above the mountains! You grab the camera, scan the area as good as you possibly can. Tensions are rising, you can feel it, everyone is hyper focussed and scared for the moment to come, the sneak pass. Will they do it, or not… You look into the valley, nothing yet, you look above the mountains, nothing yet closing in.. “BUT WAIT! There they come!! Sh*t!! Where is 002!?” “I can’t see him!” “…There he is!!…..no, wait… it can’t be!” “F*CK HE’S DOWN LOW!!” -‘Points camera and starts shooting.’ 20 frames a second, 1.3 seconds pass.. 26 frames until the Hornet move out of frame. Unable to follow with the big 500mm lens. “HOLY SH*T!!” Everyone on the Ebenflüh goes crazy! No one can believe what the hell just happened. So fast, so low, out of nowhere. I’ve got goosebumps writing this. The adrenaline in that specific moment, was through the roof! Personally, I was unable to photograph the rest of the training after that. It took at least 10 minutes to process what just had happend. Thé moment of 2023 for sure.

These are the moments where everything needs to be perfect. At the edge of it all. Absolutely no room for error. Use your experience and deliver. This is why I love photography. This is the reason why I do it. It can never be hard enough!
