Riding motorcycles at high speeds exposes you to wind noise up to 115 decibels, which can cause permanent hearing damage in just 5 minutes. Most riders think the exhaust is the biggest problem, but the constant wind noise inside your helmet is the real threat. Anything above 85 dB can start causing permanent hearing loss, and most earplugs just arenāt enough. Ever since I posted a video on riding position, I realized some people actually believe thereās no ārightā way to sit on a motorcycle. This couldnāt be further from the truth. But, of course, it does depend on the type of bike and the kind of riding youāre doing.
To truly master bike control, your body needs to be in a position that allows you to maneuver effectively. Thatās why your feet, knees, thighs, and arms all play a crucial role in maintaining control.
Iāll dive deeper into the technical aspects for those interested. And for those who say, ājust ride however feels comfortable,ā well, keep doing you. But it doesnāt hurt to step outside your comfort zone and try new techniques that will only improve your riding.
There have been moments where I shouldāve come off the bike, but thanks to years of practice, those moments turned into close calls, avoiding disaster.

Yamaha is developing a V4 engine for their MotoGP program, marking a significant shift as they are the only manufacturer currently using an inline-4 engine while other teams have embraced V4 engines for years. The V4 engine offers several advantages, including improved traction due to its firing gap, which allows for longer gaps between power pulses, enabling earlier acceleration. While inline-4 engines have an even firing gap, Yamaha can modify it using a 90-degree crankshaft to replicate the V4ās power pulses.
The packaging of V4 engines is another major advantage. V4s are narrower, reducing the frontal area, enhancing aerodynamics, and allowing for better internal cooling. Fewer exhaust primaries behind the radiator reduce heat build-up, requiring a smaller radiator, which in turn decreases drag and weight. Additionally, V4 crankshafts are shorter, providing better turn-in capabilities, though they may offer less stability at high speeds.
Yamaha is testing the V4 engine on the dyno, aiming to introduce it in MotoGP races by mid-2025, ahead of the major 2027 rule changes. Fabio Quartararo has been vocal about the need to transition to V4 engines, as other top teams are already using them. However, the V4 comes with increased complexity, requiring two heads, two sets of cams, and a more intricate exhaust system. Despite this, the V4 offers flexibility in engine parameters such as bank angle, bore, and stroke, and allows riders to take advantage of its agility and traction by driving a different V-shaped racing line around corners.

1. Arm Position: If your arms are burning out, it might be because youāre gripping those bars like your life depends on it. Relax, bro! Let your legs do the work by gripping the tank, and keep your arms looseāthey should be guiding, not holding on for dear life.
2. Foot Position: Plant the balls of your feet on the rear sets, ready to react at any moment. Turn your toes slightly inward to get that grip with your knees, but donāt overdo it.
3. Knee Grip: Your knees should be hugging that tank like itās your best mate. This grip gives you better stability and control, especially when youāre carving through those corners.
If youāre sliding forward and constantly smashing into the tank, tank grips are your new best friend. Trust me, sitting against the tank might feel comfy, but itās a recipe for disaster.
