An American Airlines passenger jet has collided midair with a Black Hawk helicopter and crashed into the Potomac River in a mass casualty event in Washington, D.C. 🌍✈️🚁
On January 29, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time), the American Airlines flight, operated by PSA Airlines as Flight 5342, collided with the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The American Airlines flight was a Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members. The U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, on a training mission, had 3 crew members aboard. Both aircraft crashed into the Potomac River following the collision. 🌊
As of the latest reports, at least 18 bodies have been recovered from the river, with rescue operations ongoing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident. 🛑🔍
Just last week, Trump FIRED the heads of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Coast Guard, and disbanded the Aviation Security Advisory Committee. 🏛️
Given that the crash occurred over six hours ago, and the individuals involved have been submerged in the water for an extended period, it is highly unlikely that any survivors remain. The lack of oxygen and the time spent submerged significantly reduces the chances of survival.
