We caught up with K2 artist Scott Roush and asked what his favorite piece of analog gear is? Here’s what he said: “A pair of Coles 4038 ribbon microphones. These BBC designed mics have been manufactured the exact same way since the 1950’s, and for good reason! I especially like recording drums through them for a fat and warm tone.”

“The single most interesting piece of equipment I’ve had in my possession in the last 10 years was a Maas Rowe Vibrachime. A friend found it when his church was being renovated and he was like “Hey, you like weird instruments. Do you want to borrow this thing?” It was a 1950s integrated tube amp and mechanical keyboard that emulated the sound of tubular bells. Weighed a ton, and it had a detachable keyboard that was connected via a 25-foot-long cable. I used it on a few albums and then recorded samples of all the notes so I could use them in the future.” - Leighton Cordell
