KPFK has been off the air since Thursday afternoon. 1/16/25. We have a team of people working to get our back-up generator up & running and return to the airwaves. Our back-up generator shut down unexpectedly yesterday afternoon because of a bad water leak in the cooling system. As of 5pm Friday January 17, 2025, our engineers are working diligently at Mt Wilson to restore our power - It’s too dark to safely bring the new generator we ordered up to the Mountain and install it tonight. Our Chief Engineer Stuart Landau will meet them on the mountain at Sunrise Saturday morning to get it going and connected to our transfer panel. Thank you dear listeners for your patience in these extremely challenging times for . Nearly 70% of new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. are among gay and bisexual men - even though they are only 2% of the U.S. population.. How can this be? 2) Banning books may seem fun and fashionable in the deep south where a full set of teeth is neither fun nor fashionable. But I can tell you the founding fathers would’ve bulbitated in their briefs had they known some governers would ban the very medium the founding fathers used to impart their early ideas of freedom.

KPFK is a listener-sponsored radio station based in Los Angeles. KPFK was the second of five stations in the non-commercial Pacifica Foundation network. The Pacifica Foundation was founded in the late 1940s out of the peace movement surrounding World War II, becoming the birthplace of a listener-sponsored radio.

KPFK has been broadcasting since 1959 over 110,000 - Watts, the strongest signal west of the Mississippi. KPFK continues to produce the majority of programs in-house giving it the flexibility to provide a platform for stories, news, music, and information to serve the cultural welfare of the communities in and around Southern California that you will not hear anywhere else. KPFK believes forging social change is a fundamental part of how radio can make a positive impact on communities.
