Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce (Surf and Turf)
A decadent and flavorful dish that combines the best of land and sea.
Ingredients:
For the Steak:
1 pound steak (such as strip loin, ribeye, etc.)
Cajun seasoning to taste
Olive oil
For the Shrimp Sauce:
2 tablespoons butter
8 ounces shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 cup chicken broth (or dry white wine)
1 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Instructions:
Season the Steak: Season the steak with Cajun seasoning on both sides.
Cook the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook until pink. Remove shrimp and set aside.
Create the Sauce: Deglaze the pan with chicken broth or white wine, scraping up any browned bits. Add heavy cream, Dijon mustard, Cajun seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened. Stir in lemon juice and parsley.
Combine: Return the cooked shrimp and steak to the sauce. Toss to coat.
Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes.
Tips:
For a spicier sauce, add more Cajun seasoning or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
You can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce.
Serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
Enjoy this indulgent and flavorful dish!
