So I did this all by myself!
I believe life is better with color.
I had moldy 10 year old carpet and live in montana. With snowy boots the carpet didn’t stand a chance. I needed to do something asap. I figured if I’m living in a split entry home I may as well add some beauty. I love opening my door and seeing these. There is a 1/2 inch difference between top and bottom stair so each was centered and cut individually. I hand no idea how often I was looking and the ground till I put these in. Everyone in our family chose their own tile and it might not match perfectly but I love it all the more. So much better than pure carpet. I’m going to finish tiling the mudroom this spring with terracotta but wanted to show off my progress so far.

I just moved into this place and I can’t figure out how to remove old water rings from the toilet, I’ve scrubbed with several cleaners with no luck…. HELP, PLEASE 🙄

Why the door (circled in red ) from entry room w stairs into dining room? Seems redundant now with wide opening into dining room but prob wasn’t redundant at some Point in time …asbury park NJ, 1900

Need advice on remodeling kitchen on the budget. Small galley kitchen in our first home. We are more likely to buy a bigger home in the next year or two . Cabinets are shot and have to go, floor can stay, appliances stay, can add backsplash and new paint.

This is my kitchen countertop, I'm not sure if it's granite or quartz? It is much too dark for my liking, black with tiny flecks of sparkly silver and gold.
Is there any way to update it to a lighter color without replacing it?

We are doing full height quartz backsplash continued from countertop but what to do about the windows? How far up to go? Or take it fully up the wall? Anyone with shelves around the window and quartz backsplash would love to see your kitchens! TIA!

Edited to add: shelves are 2.5” thick as recommended by cabinet maker to support weight. I feel they look thicker than I wanted but just saw install today and focusing on every last detail I don’t like. Trying to be grateful on this Christmas Day. Does anyone think I should ask the cabinet maker to make them slimmer? Not sure the 1/2” or so would make a difference? Might be too late or costly at this time though. 😬

What are some not so obvious cost savers when doing a full kitchen renovation? We live in a high COL area and have decent size kitchen so the quotes are 💰💰💰. I don’t want j***y cabinets, but am open to quartz instead of quartzite, things like that. Are there other things I’m not thinking about?

Im getting three quotes. One is quite high, another is just a little high, and the last was very low but I’m having a hard time getting details on what materials that one is using. I think I’d like to use the one in the middle and just shave a few things back so we can make it work! Thanks!

After 12 long weeks our new kitchen is complete just before Christmas 👏🏻We put a roof on the conservatory and knocked through. I strongly recommend anyone who has a conservatory to pop a roof on it as it’s given us so much space.
Kitchen was by a local company who turned out to be cheaper than some of the leading brands and the service we got was exceptional. I wasn’t even going to into the shop because I thought it would be way out of our price range but they were within our budget . This is a Macintosh kitchen in Spitfire blue .
Our house has particular issues and it presented quite a challenge in terms of creating a good design. But we now have a wonderful kitchen and utility area.

Thoughts.....does this need a mantle or no?
We've never had one without a mantle this is in our new house. Too plain? I assume it doesn't get used much this is Arizona. They originally had a couch backed up to it.

Does anyone know what this material is that they are putting in RVs and where to buy it? My daughter took a photo of me cooking breakfast the other morning and I realized that my backsplash looks like interlocking pen*ses. Short stubby ones, for sure, but pen*ses nonetheless. 🤦‍♀️😂😂😂. Now I can’t unsee it and I want to change it out!!!
I have been planning a tempered glass backsplash behind my stove with a beautiful copper inlay so I am wanting something dark (but not ph***ic, lol) to offset it.

Not a white kitchen! This gorgeous home had so much light that we were able to do a super moody cabinet. I need to have them snap some pics of the prep area with dog watering area because ❤️❤️❤️
