As we slide into the holiday season, are you questioning your drinking? Maybe even slightly dreading the parties, if they always come with hangovers and morning-after regret? If so, read this Newsweek article by Wonderwell author Dustin Dunbar. In it, he leads us to question the lies alcohol tells us: that drinking will make us more fun to be around, that it will make us happier — and that we can't stop.

I promise you, alcohol doesn't make us happier or more fun, and you absolutely can break its hold over you.

Dustin's book You're Doing Great: And Other Lies Alcohol Told Me is available for preorder now and in stores January 9. It could be the best gift you ever give to yourself or someone you love.

This book is very close to my heart, having escaped from the "alcohol matrix" myself almost exactly three years ago. Life has never been so good. In fact, I finally really am doing great.

I woke up to three police officers, guns drawn, ready to take me to jail.

Most strategic transformations are doomed to fail, for two fundamental reasons: their leaders don’t aim high enough, delivering incremental changes rather than something truly remarkable, and they move far too slowly to keep up with the pace of disruption. This gap between what is required in a world of seismic shifts in technology and customer requirements and what is typically delivered risks putting your organization on the road to extinction.

On sale in March 2024, Leaders Leap makes the case for why a complete metamorphosis of leadership mindset is key to preventing your organization from becoming irrelevant and explores seven profound “mind leaps” leaders need to make now. With over 40 years of leadership experience, author Steve Dennis will take you on a courageous journey of self-reflection, personal accountability, and growth, exposing the ways in which our ego, biases, and fear, can lead to timid transformation efforts when what we need most is to think bigger, act more boldly, and move far faster.

Now available: See through the smokescreens to what is true with ’s Near Enemies of the Truth. In this book, Wallis draws on his 30 years of wisdom as a spiritual scholar, practitioner, and teacher to demonstrate how nearly all the popular platitudes found in alternative spiritual communities (phrases like “speak your truth” and “be your best self”) are distorted or oversimplified versions of some of the most significant yet subtle spiritual insights developed over the ages.

When we’re talking about deep and fundamental truths, getting it a little bit wrong doesn’t much matter in the short term, but it very much matters in the long term—just like a tiny adjustment to the rudder of your boat makes little difference at first, but after two thousand miles, it lands you on a different continent. If you find yourself lost in a sea of trendy, bumper-sticker spirituality, Near Enemies of the Truth will guide you to the shores of awakening. Many business leaders seek to avoid the “fail to scale” phenomenon—the low-quality, high-friction interactions that become increasingly common as companies expand. What made a company great when it was a small, tight-knit team—its culture, its high performance, its clear vision—may no longer exist when such an exponential increase in complexity unfolds. Yet, those who fall victim to this avoidable problem don’t possess the resources to prevent their organization from underperforming in the first place. That’s where Rob Bier comes in.

With over three decades of experience helping founders of start-ups and scale-ups to create high-performing organizations, Bier has devised 20 foundational rituals that executives can integrate into their organizations to make interactions as frictionless as possible. He’s offering them all in his new book, Smooth Scaling, on sale February 2024. Learn more at our blog (link in bio).

From the “No Means No” movement to the “Yes Mean Yes” 2014 California law and , the landscape of consent is evolving. And with the rise of the dangerous incel movement and misogynist influencers like Andrew Tate, education and healthy guidance is desperately needed for men of all ages—which is why we’re so proud to be publishing The Better Man: A Guide to Consent, Stronger Relationships, and Hotter S*x by relationship therapist Eric FitzMedrud, Ph.D. this September. A big thank you to Publishers Weekly for this article profiling Wonderwell, and especially for highlighting the importance of ethical hybrid publishing!

"For Langrick, ethical hybrid publishing requires, above all, a strong commitment to high editorial standards. 'You have to be uncompromisingly selective, build your list intentionally, and turn away books that are bad bets, even when that means lost revenues,' she said. 'You have to scope and price each project realistically to allow you to create predictable excellence, even if that means your bid comes in higher than that of your competitor. These things are not easy, but they’re essential to practicing ethical hybrid publishing.'"

So proud of our books, our authors, our team, and the values we practice in our publishing program.

With the company's continued growth, CEO and publisher Maggie Langrick has become one of hybrid publishing’s most outspoken advocates.

You know you've got something to say. Enough to fill a book, in fact. But how do you get there? If you've spent the bulk of your time "doing," your writing and editing skills might not be perfectly honed, and when you're an expert in one arena, starting from the beginner's level in another can be really disorienting. That's more than okay; it's to be expected. Our business is giving voice to thought leaders with something new to say. We're great at it, in fact. From developing a proposal to outlining a book, coaching first-time authors, providing world-standard editing, and even ghostwriting services, we've got you covered. So you can tell your story about what you do best. Remember, the world doesn't need you to be good at everything—just the thing which fulfills your purpose. Speaking of which, what IS your purpose? What gets you up every morning and fuels your days? We'd love to hear about it in the comments below. 👇

An announcement from our CEO and publisher, : Recruiting top talent is one of the most important—and difficult—tasks for any business leader. I am proud to say that I am crushing it right now. 😁

As Wonderwell welcomes two new members to our core team, I want to take a moment to introduce you to them (and a not-so-new member), and share what I’ve learned about building a team of superstars.

Thirteen months ago, I hired Jennifer Jensen to lead our marketing department. I’d been scouting for a Sales and Marketing Director for more than 6 months, and although I met many qualified candidates, I really wanted to hold out for someone with the right values and culture fit, as well as skills. My patience was rewarded when I met Jenn. Today, she is consistently acknowledged by client after client as one of the main reasons they signed with us, and/or the best part of their Wonderwell experience. She is incredibly talented, passionate, accountable, generous, and an all-round amazing human.

About eight weeks ago, J Cisneros, MBA joined us as Chief of Staff. I had been looking for the perfect person for this role since February! Patience and clarity of vision paid off again. J is obsessed with systems improvement, passionate about strategic planning, and is a meticulous documenter with a personality like sunshine. Most importantly, they are one of the most thoughtful, empathic, and self-aware communicators I’ve ever met.

Two weeks ago, we welcomed our new Editorial Director, Eva Avery. This is a linchpin role, so getting the fit right carried major consequences for the company.

You don't do what you do “just because.” Your passions, skills, and drives are all a result of your unique experiences and purpose. Wonderwell isn't a hybrid publisher “just because,” either. Independence, self-ownership, and reinventing traditional systems are at the core of our purpose--and our authors'. These are people who have charted their own path, followed their purpose, gotten stuff done, and learned precious insights along the way. Humanity's rebels and cutting-edge rule-breakers. If that doesn't sound like a typical author at a traditional publishing house, you'd be right. But we're a hybrid publisher, which means we give our authors more ownership and control while providing industry-leading services. We're made differently, for authors and readers who want to make and see a difference. If that resonates with you, we want to help get your ideas onto the page! Submit your book idea at the link in our bio.

When you're an established expert, it's easy to miss the things new and unconventional voices are adding to the conversation. It’s also much harder to imagine approaching your topic from the perspective of someone who’s completely new to it—which is what most first-time readers will be.Engaging the mindset of a would-be reader is the key to writing an effective non-fiction book. Unfortunately, Amazon is overflowing with dry, uninspiring titles from legacy experts who failed to do so. Here are three simple tips for avoiding that pitfall, gathered from our publisher 's interview with publishing veteran . As always, you can listen to the full episode at the link in our bio.
