The first week of piano instruction is September 8-11, 2020. My classes will be held online except in the case of parents who have made special arrangements. Lessons will not be one on one until the Coronavirus is under control and when Governor Inslee gives permission to do so. It is my belief that students can make adequate
progress online. Please check your capability to FaceTime on your IPhone or computer. If not, I am set up to participate in Zoom lessons as well. Former and new students will receive a fall lesson letter and Studio Policy soon.

Scotty Renslow, a Senior at Kalama High School, presented a Recital of Piano Music on Friday, June 8, in the Sanctuary of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Her solo program featured piano music by Heller, Albeniz, Vandall and The Piano Guys. Also performing in the program were Mason Renslow, piano; Seth Klander, piano and Chloe Evans, cello.

Following the recital, a reception celebrating Scotty’s achievements as a scholar, athlete and pianist was attended by seventy five family members and friends.

Scotty has studied piano for 10 years including the last three with Sharon Moe. Sharon is a WSTMA Accredited Piano Instructor who has taught over
40 years in the Longview/Kelso area. Many of her former students have won awards and a number are presently teaching private and public school music. Former students include Bryce Po***ck, Matt Po***ck, Hellen Merrill and Jerilynn Harris, public school music teachers. Also those former students who teach private piano include Kimberly Lindell and Bobbie Meech.

One of the most successful yearly activities of the studio is the Halloween playing class. Students perform exciting Halloween solos in festive costumes. Also included are music games and doughnuts. Fun is had by all!!

Students of the Sharon Moe Piano Studio participated in the 2018 WSMTA MAP Project on March 11 in the Sanctuary of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. This year’s Visiting Artist was Dr. Otten, formerly a piano professor at Chapel Hill in North Carolina and presently a teacher and and concert artist in Portland, Oregon. Those students participating in the project performed two piano pieces including one which was memorized. The performances of each student received written and oral comments from the Visiting Artist. Performing in the MAP project were Isabelle Allen, Leo Askeland, Luke Askeland, Meredith Chesley, Adam Klander, Seth Klander, Khoi Le, Laura Le, Mackenzie Lee, Madison Lee, Angela Ponkratov, Mason Renslow, Scotty Renslow, Trent Renslow and Henry Upshaw. The project was a huge success for students and parents alike.

Seth Klander also performed in the WSMTA MAP Project Playoff on March 10. He performed the Roumanian Dance, Op. 8a by Bartok.

Congratulations to Seth Klander who participated in the Cowlitz Chapter Adjudication Playoff was chosen Representative to the WSMTA State Convention in Bremerton. Also participating were Blake Peterson who was given the Fist Alternate Award. Participant Will Darling received Honorable Mention. Your hard work and perseverance are stellar!!

Students from the Sharon Moe Studio will present the 2015 Recital of Christmas Music on Wednesday, December 16, at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Thirty-four students will perform Christmas music in all styles and genres! Please celebrate the holiday with your young pianist. A reception will follow.
