How important is room sound to a recording?

A lot of modern recordings don't necessarily utilize a room microphone. And even if it was, it's not noticeable.

A quality room tone kinda glues a mix together. Sure you can mic up an 8 piece kit and rely on overheads but why not utilize the room to make a drum kit sound huge?

Using a series of condenser mics, I capture the left and right sides of the stage as well as the room itself. This creates the ULTIMATE in stereoscopic images for your recordings. Just like the good ol days!
