Doing some recording this week. I had an ex friend originally show me how to mic the inside of a Bass Drum with a Sennheiser 421. I did that for many years but when I bought a Shure Beta 52 I switched over like most people do. So decided to try both, and for extra flavor I added a Beyerdynamic M380 TG bidirectional acting like a subkick mic. My first impression is I have really missed the sound of the 421. Very forward and punchy sounding. Remember in the analog tape days I only had one track for bass drum so this is all I used. Once I get these 3 in phase and blended I expect it to be pretty amazing.
