The 13th annual SoMardi Gras parade kicks off this Saturday, Feb. 18 at noon on South Main Street. The rain-or-shine New Orleans-style parade/block party is free to the public and will feature around 50 vendors, 40 float participants, live music, king cakes, muffulettas, beards, superheroes and more...

Not long ago, families that looked like mine were discriminated against and were kept from buying homes, especially within certain areas or communities.

They used what’s known today as Redlining to map out areas that were deemed bad investments. Fast forward to today; Redlining is now illegal and families like mine and others are free to purchase homes in any neighborhood they wish.

This is another major reason why I became a Real Estate Professional. My goal is to educate and empower buyers and sellers as well, regardless of their race or background.

So this Black History Month let’s honor those families who paved the way and changed laws so that black and brown families like mine can call themselves homeowners!

Let’s kick off the New Year with a reintroduction. I’m Kali, but you can call me Kay.

I’m a mom, wife, creator, and licensed Arkansas Realtor who decided to switch things up to develop a Transaction Coordinating and Marketing Agency for other Realtors.

My personality is definitely more on the introverted and socially awkward side, but I still love making connections with people and I love to laugh at almost everything. Yes, you will catch me laughing at something a good 90% of the time. And I love a nice Dad Joke.

KC Consulting & Coordinating has been a labor of love since 2019, but I recently took a leap of faith to purse it full time in September of 2022.

I have so many great plans for KC Co that I believe will provide value to not only Realtors, but to other local businesses and my community.

I have been doing Transaction Coordinating & digital templates all 2022 as just a side hustle. Business was steady, but I couldn’t really put much effort into it because I still had a full time job and family life that took up a bulk of my time.

However, when I decided to leave Corporate America in September, things instantly took off and honey y’all have been keeping this girl busy and I am not complaining at all!!

I’m very appreciative of every Agent who trusted me to coordinate their Real Estate Transactions and those who trusted my creative abilities to bring their visions to life. I thank you all!

In 2022, I’ve closed over 35 Transactions and done countless designs, but just know that this was only the beginning.

2023, y’all are definitely about to see me at my fullest potential and I can not wait!

All jokes aside, I totally understand the hesitation. Hiring someone for services usually takes time to cultivate a relationship and clients usually want to see what you can do before they throw their money at you.

So trust I get it, that’s why my goal isn’t to just sale my services, but to develop relationships and build community. Lasting relationships will provide more longevity for your business.

So my tip for agents: build relationships vs. selling yourself.

It’s been a little over 2 months since I took the leap of faith to work for myself and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s far from easy, and there are days where I miss the security of a paycheck, but the best thing I’ve ever done was believe in myself and my abilities.

Cheers to those out here hustling on their own. If it’s one thing I’ve leaned so far, it’s to keep growing, keep learning, keep striving for your goals, and keep the faith that all things will work out in your favor.

Being on go mode all the time is exhausting, which is why I’m working from the bed today.

As the new months starts we all want to hustle for our goals, but I’ve slowly realized that slow and steady wins the race.

So I’m enjoying this time in a chill zone to catch up on contracts and create/plan more helpful content.

I encourage other to take advantage of working from the bed sometimes. Make sure it’s nice and clean, well lit, and light your favorite candles.

It will calm you and hopefully make you a little more productive ✨

The algorithm wants us all the same, but honestly do what’s best for you and just be yourself!

I certainly struggle with this , especially since it’s so easy to get on these apps and see everyone doing the same thing. We naturally want to fall in line and do it as well.

However being like everyone else eventually gets hard to maintain. Whether you like being quirky or serious, your personality needs to shine through your brand. It helps people connect with you, which builds relationships and then eventually you have a client.

Now everyone isn’t going to be for you or your cup of tea, but that’s okay. Your audience and ideal clients will naturally gravitate toward you. Just stay consistent and stay true to you!

Now just be prepared to be sicca me, because I’m finally taking my own advice lol.
