Our Story
Michael Hopko had an early love of glassblowing, having been introduced to the art form at an early age. Coming from a family of artists, this was no surprise to those who knew him. After completing college courses in the art, Michael continued his newfound talent by working alongside skilled professionals throughout California. As a quick learner, he soon was able to branch out on his own. He opened his own business and returned to reside on his family compound. To this day, he can be seen working in his home studio, which is open to the public.
Hopko art glass, previously known as Soul Glass, has long been recognized for its large variety of colorful octopus. As Michael’s skills increased, so has his product line. Quickly gaining in popularity are the realistic fresh water and salt water fish. Most recently, Michael is combining steel-framed schools of fish, wall-mounted and internally lit with LED lighting, bringing his level of artistry to a new dimension.
Michael gets his creative energy from family, friends and companions. He is driven by the desire to be considered someone who successfully dedicated his life to mastering his own interpretation of nature, recreated and preserved in glass.
