3:00 CDT Big Picture Update - GF in roughly an hour. Cell that was west of the track moved North. Outflow boundary is now South of the track, so cooler air for those at the track. Outflow is still initiating and strengthening storms, so the increased rain chance starts now. Storms that are out west are slowly making their way towards the track, still thinking around 5 pm arrival IF they build further Southeast. Keep sending in pics from the track! Thanks to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN for their collaboration!
2:40 CDT Update - Cell growing 10 miles to the W. If it continues to build further South it could hit the track before GF. Still no lightning. Keep sending pics! Thx to the RaceWeather Mets & @NASCAR_WXMAN for their collaboration!
2:00 CDT Update - Roughly 2 hours till GF. Closest cell is 15 miles away, no lightning. Main AOI is WSW. Line of storms firing and could make their way to the track in 2-3 hours. Reply with Weather Pics if you’re at the track! Thx to the RaceWeather Mets & @NASCAR_WXMAN!
1:20 CDT Update - Storms to the North are pushing an outflow boundary towards the track. Will see some initiation along the boundary, but can’t say yet if it will impact the track. Boundary ETA is roughly 30 minutes. Thx to the RaceWeather Mets and @NASCAR_WXMAN!
12:15 CDT Update - Storms to the NW weakened then restrengthened, which none of the models had. Should stay to the North of the track. Still confident on the prediction of increased rain chances starting around 4. Thanks to the RaceWeather Mets and @NASCAR_WXMAN!
9:40 AM CDT Update - I have awoken from my slumber (we have multiple Mets who post for different series) and immediately checked the Chicago Radar. Early morning precious missed the area, which favors the late afternoon storms for today. I think from now until about 4/5 pm lingering isolated showers are possible. Nothing heavy most likely just a few drops. After 4 I’d say there’s a good chance for a small line of storms to move through, but it could also miss to the North. Check back in throughout the day for updates! Thanks to the RaceWeather team of Meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN for their collaboration!
4:00 CDT Update - Final update of the day. A few showers located 35 miles WNW of the track. If similar to the showers a few hours ago, they won’t last too long. In the final stage of the Xfinity race so shouldn’t have any issues. Thx to the RaceWeather Mets & @NASCAR_WXMAN!
2:30 CDT Update - Xfinity race about to start. 77 degrees with clouds and calm winds. Showers stayed West and fizzled out, so no immediate rain chances for the race. Thanks to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN for their collaboration!
11:10 AM CDT Update - Radar looks clear for Cup practice and qualy. A small shower is just to the West of Rockford. Will need to watch this shower to see how others could interact with the atmosphere the rest of the day. Thx to the RaceWeather team of Mets and @NASCAR_WXMAN!
5:40 PM CT @NashvillrSuperS update - Rain showers abt 12 miles NW of the track is expected to stay west of the area. No lightning w/in 20 miles. We’re continuing to monitor the situation - Many thx to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN
4:30 PM CT update - The cell moving over @NashvilleSuperS will continue to move to the SE at 25 mph. Lightning is w/in 1 mile of the track - so we’ll continue to reset the 30-min lightning clock. We’re continuing to monitor the situation - Many thx to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN
4:20 PM CT @NashvilleSuperS update - the stronger cell looks to stay north, then east of the track. The other cell is weakening but could still bring a few drops. We’re continuing to monitor the situation - Many thx to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN
4:00 PM CT @NashvilleSuperS update - the storms have weakened a little but could still delay the race. These storms are 15 miles fm the track, moving 20-25 mph. This being said - remember, lightning could (& likely would) pause the race before the rain arrives We’re continuing to monitor the situation - expecting possible weather around 4:25-35 PM CT Many thx to the RaceWeather team of meteorologists and @NASCAR_WXMAN
