This is the title track for the new album by my band called . Our bassist George Dimitri came up with the initial idea on acoustic guitar, and asked me if it could be used as a song for the album. I said “it sure could.” After about an hour of finagling with ideas, I finally came up with an arrangement for it that I recorded immediately. Sent it to the rest of the band, and the song was done in a few days. I’m so damn proud of this song, and we were all proud to have named the album after the song itself. It’s one of the best tracks we’ve ever written, and as good as I think our debut album was, I think THIS album is gonna blow that one and every other release in 2024 away.

Why do I speak so highly of our band’s music? Because we have no corporate sponsorships, no label support, no anything. Just 5 guys passionate about good music, good songs, good production, and good writing. No yes men, no A&R people, no gatekeepers. Just 5 friends who don’t care what the current trends are.

I only hope you like it as much as we do. If you do, tell a friend. If you don’t, tell an enemy. We’ll still be here.

We’re Severed Angel - disrupting the music world since 2022. Music is our passion, and we are gonna be doing this for a long time.

Finally saw . Spoiler free review.

I give it a 7/10. The only thing I didn’t like about the film was that the actor they hired to play Ric Flair looked more like Gentleman Chris Adams with an accent that wasn’t Minnesotan. He didn’t even have the same inflection in his voice as the nature boy. However, the actors they hired to play Bruiser Brody, Gino Hernandez, Harley Race, and Fritz Von Erich were spot on.

Note - I know people hear the name and immediately they think . Warning - this is not a documentary of . This is a biopic (like Bohemian Rhapsody) on the Von Erich family.

More than that, it’s a film that showcases a family whose father pushes stoicism over all other emotions towards his sons who were emotionally stunted. I realize those are harsh words, but that is how the film appears.

I think stoicism is a great quality to have, but it needs to be balanced with empathy. We can play armchair quarterback all we want and say Fritz was a bad dad, but that wasn’t the point of the film. The heart of the film is Zac Efrom who shows what happens when stoicism is balanced with empathy.

And all the credit in the world goes to the actors who played David, Kerry, and Mike Von Erich as well. You really felt for them.

And the songs in the film are great too. They play Rush’s Tom Sawyer. Yay!

I really expected to get choked up during the film, but I didn’t. That’s not to say that’s a bad thing. I just paid attention to what the film was trying to convey, and maybe upon second viewing, I may get choked up again. Who knows. Either way, go see this film. It’s worth it.

So Kiss as a physical entity after 50 years of entertainment have called it a day.

However, Kiss as a virtual entity looks to continue on until whenever the company darn well pleases.

I grew up during my teen years as a huge Kiss fan, and was beyond stoked to have seen the original lineup on what I thought was their farewell tour of 2000 at Jones Beach on night one. I still love the music. I even love the album Monster. However I feel about Tommy and Eric wearing Ace and Peter’s makeup (as I am not a partner nor a member of the band, and I’m not privy to the business dealings they go through) is irrelevant, as I think they are both capable musicians who are paid to do a job. Also, I wasn’t a fan since the beginning since I was born in 1980 and they formed in 1973. Therefore, I didn’t experience the trials and tribulations they experienced when they:

1. released the solo albums
2. released a disco single
3. replaced Peter with Eric Carr and go on a European and Australian tour when they should have done more than one NYC show
4. released the Elder
5. play to half empty arenas on the Creatures tour in the US
6. made the decision to drop the makeup
7. can Vinnie Vincent for being a wackadoo
8. deal with Mark St. John’s ailments
9. deal with a decline of popularity in Europe as they opened for bands that they inspired (ie: Iron Maiden)
10. deal with the loss of Eric Carr
11. deal with lacking ticket sales on the Revenge tour in the US

So all of this, I didn’t experience, even as a fan. And as a person who appreciates objectivity, I can understand why the band existed for the past 20 years with Eric and Tommy as members. Whether I like it or not has no bearing on their right to do it, and the fact that they stayed with it from 2004 until now with the 4 faces identifiable with Kiss shows that it was a smart business decision.

But now…Kiss is the American equivalent of the ABBA avatars.

Dang. First I’m reading Brett Purgason (aka Pustulus Maxiumus) quit GWAR, and now I’m hearing Jay Weinberg has quit Slipknot.

Crazy stuff. Both are great musicians who added value to their respective bands. Wish them all the best, but whoever replaces them will have big shoes to fill.
