All fire units have cleared the scene. Texas Forestry Service has finished cutting the containment lines. No further updates will follow.

Update 4:41PM
All mutual aid agencies have been released from fire scene. Levelland Fire Department still on scene with Texas Forestry Service as they continue to cut containment lines around the perimeter and measure the burn area.

Large grass fire west of Levelland has been stopped. Levelland Fire Dept's along with several mutual aid agencies efforts have been effective. Hockley County and City of Levelland maintainers have cut fire breaks at gusher rd to protect resident and prevent the fire from moving any further east. At this time no evacuation is recommended or needed.

Good morning. We have been monitoring the weather and roads since about 3:30 this morning. Levelland ISD is starting school at the normal time and buses are currently running.
Be safe this morning. We will keep watching the weather and the roads throughout the day.

A winter weather advisory has been issued until 6 AM Friday for the entire area. Plan on slippery roads and snow accumulations of up to three inches and a light glaze of ice.
