Valentine's Day is next week, and since it's a Friday night . . . 61% of single people say they'd go out for a FIRST DATE on Valentine's Day.
There's a new poll out on the DATING EXPERIENCES people have had, and 80% of Americans say they've been on a "wonderful date" at some point. And 50% have been through a "terrible date."

44% of people have tried a double date.

38% of people have become "platonic friends" with someone they initially met by going on a date with them.

Another 38% have agreed to go on a date with someone they weren't attracted to.

35% have had s*x on a first date.

29% have gone on a blind date.

25% have been stood up on a date.

17% have stood SOMEONE ELSE up on a date.

First-date behaviors generally unacceptable include being dismissive to service staff, criticizing the other person's order, and frequently looking at your phone.

Many people don't like jury duty, and some are even willing to SAY THINGS THEY SHOULDN'T just to get out of it. Even JUDGES.

A judge in upstate New York was just forced to resign, after he made some wild statements during a jury screening process, where HE was a prospective juror.
His name is Richard T. Snyder. In court transcripts, he said he was a judge, but that he could NOT be impartial. He said, "I know everybody that comes in front of me . . . they're guilty . . . they would not be in front of me [if they were innocent]."
He was asked again if he could set any preconceived notions aside, and he responded, "No. It would not be fair."
Naturally, he was dismissed from the case. But the judge in THAT case reported him to state officials.

An upstate New York judge has resigned after he got out of jury duty by claiming that he couldn’t be impartial because he thought everyone brought before a court is guilty.

Dinner is a great time to connect with your kids and have actual conversations. But screw that . . . there's too much good stuff to watch.
Around two-thirds of Americans say they usually watch TV while eating dinner now. 63% do, compared to 41% who talk to the people they're eating with.

Watching TV isn't the only thing we're up to at dinner: 28% often use their phone . . . 16% listen to music . . . 8% read . . . 6% make phone calls . . . another 6% play video games while they're eating . . . and 3% do chores.
1% said they usually eat dinner while driving, or on their commute. 4% said the same about breakfast.
The poll found dinner is our favorite meal by far. It's also the one we're least likely to skip, and our LONGEST meal of the day.

A new YouGov survey explores which meal — breakfast, lunch, or dinner — Americans like the most, when they eat their meals, who they eat with, their most-loved and most-hated parts of meal preparation and what they’re doing while they eat.

Shaboozey's song, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)", just broke the record for the most weeks spent at #1 in the history of the Billboard Radio Songs chart. It beat out The Weeknd's song "Blinding Lights" for the honor.
It has now been #1 for a 27th week. It beat out The Weeknd's song "Blinding Lights" for the honor. Which is another song that's impossible to get out of your head.
1. It topped the Country Airplay chart for seven consecutive weeks back in August, which was the longest streak ever for a debut single.
2. It also made more history on the Country Airplay chart, as it continues to stay in the Top 10 for a record-extending 31st week.
3. "Tipsy" is also the first song ever to break into the Top 5 on the Country Airplay chart, Pop Airplay chart, AND the Adult Pop Airplay chart.
This just goes to show what a crossover success "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" has been. His new song "Good News" has been doing well, but it's gotta be impossible to follow up the massive success of "Tipsy".

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” extends its reign to a 27th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s [...]

According to a new study, MORNINGS are actually the happiest time of day, when people are "more satisfied, and less downbeat." The least-happy time is midnight, or whenever you go to bed.
According to a new study, MORNINGS are actually the happiest time of day, when people are "happier, more satisfied, and less downbeat."

Experts analyzed data from almost 50,000 adults, throughout two years, and found that regardless of the day, a person wakes up in a good mood . . . and that is the best they're going to feel all day.

It's a bit of a rollercoaster after that . . . with a big dip around 10:30 A.M. But there's another surge of happiness around 6:00 P.M., when many people are off work, and having dinner.
There's a downturn throughout the evening, and the LEAST happy time is midnight, or whenever you go to bed for the night.
They didn't address "morning people" vs. "night owls" . . . or any other factors. (Like if you've had a nightcap, or two, in the evening.)

Generally, things really do seem better in the morning, with clear patterns across time of day in how we report our mental health and wellbeing, suggest the findings of a large study led by researchers at UCL.

A poll of 3,000 Americans found Buffalo wings are the best Super Bowl food, followed by chips, nachos, and pizza.
"Mental Floss" shared a dubious study last week that found America's favorite Super Bowl foods were Buffalo chicken dip and baked potatoes.
Here's what our ACTUAL favorites are.

1. Buffalo wings. 31 states, including almost everywhere east of the Mississippi.

2. Chips. Seven states: Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Alaska.

3. Nachos. Five states: Colorado, Maine, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin. (If you combine those two, then chips really got 12.)

4. Pizza. Three states: California, Michigan, and South Dakota.

5. Cheese charcuterie boards. Three states: Iowa, Kansas, and Montana.

6. Loaded potato skins. They're #1 in Hawaii.

We surveyed 3,000 Americans to find out each state's favorite Super Bowl snack, dip and drink.

A while back, a man in Florida named Jason Vargesko went to a Hyundai dealership to finance a new vehicle. They looked into it . . . and denied him.
Jason got upset and STOLE a car from the lot, after noticing that the keys were left in the ignition. He got away with it, briefly.

The authorities didn't have a problem tracking Jason down for TWO reasons: One, the car from the lot had a GPS sensor on it. And two, Jason had given his address to the dealership when he was trying to get financing.
Jason admitted to police that he stole the vehicle because he was denied a car loan. He said that he had no choice, because he spent his "last $50 on an Uber to the dealership."
He was hit with a felony count of vehicle theft.

A Malabar man is accused of vehicle theft stealing a car from a Vero Beach dealership because he didn't have money for an uber home.

Some parents think that we coddle kids too much, and they're becoming too soft. And in the Netherlands, they're trying to correct this by making playgrounds LESS SAFE.

They're NOT talking about leaving rusted-out slides . . . putting a pit of spikes below the monkey bars
A new policy proposal in the Netherlands would increase kids' access to open outdoor play areas to "climb, play with water and fire, sword-fight with sticks, build with hammers, rope, or knives, and wrestle and fall."
It's not just about making spaces RISKIER, it's making them LESS BORING. They say more kids are sitting inside, being less active, because playing on their devices is more exciting than finding adventure OUTSIDE.
One mother says "risk-taking play" can be a good thing, because "it's learning about boundaries." Someone else says "rough playing" might lead to bumps or cuts, but it helps kids "make social contact, and to learn to deal with risks."

Encouraging kids to play with fire? Hear us out, says party worried by the Netherlands’ increasingly sedentary ways

Teens Spend 92 Minutes on Their Phone at School Each Day

A study found the average teenager uses their phone for 92 minutes at SCHOOL each day. The top things they use it for are to check Instagram, send texts, and watch videos.
A new study found the average teenager spends 92 minutes on their phone at school each day. It represented 27% of their total daily phone time . . . just over five-and-a-half hours.

A lot of it could be at lunch, or in between classes. But you probably don't get to 92 minutes without using it in class as well.

Researchers used an app called RealityMeter.com to track phone habits over the course of four months.
Ranked by time spent, the top apps they used were Instagram . . . texting apps . . . streaming apps, like YouTube . . . and music apps, like Spotify.

A Husband's Affair Was Accidentally Outed, When His Fling's Old Navy Jeans Left Green Stains Everywhere

Technology has made it easier to catch a cheating partner . . .
Last month, a woman went online to ask people for CLEANING TIPS. She noticed that everything in her house was TURNING GREEN, and she couldn't figure out what was causing it.

The green coloring was showing up on couch cushions . . . bed sheets . . . carpeting . . . her own socks . . . her phone charger . . . and even her CAT.
In her posts about it, she showed pictures where you could clearly see a green hue showing up on everything. She tested for mold . . . that wasn't it. She tested to see if it was her detergent . . . that wasn't it either.
There were a lot of theories, but one person suggested that it could be brand new jeans from Old Navy . . . because "they stain everything."
The woman said that her and her husband aren't jeans people . . . but then someone else said, quote, "Imagine this is how you discover he's having an affair with some Old Navy-wearing woman, from the cat turning green."

And apparently . . . that IS what was happening.

The woman later posted an update saying that she didn't take the comment seriously at first . . . but her husband HAD been acting strangely, so she started looking at his bank statements for Old Navy purchases.
She didn't see anything . . . but when she looked through his phone, she found evidence of an affair. And yes, the other woman was wearing jeans in a lot of her photos.

The random commenter who jokingly suggested the affair saw the woman's update and said, "I was the Old Navy jeans commenter . . . [I'm] screaming . . . sorry you found out like this . . . but glad the truth came out."

This woman had a surprising revelation after asking the internet for advice on cleaning her home.
