The longest strike in decades by Culinary Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 is coming to an end after 69 days. Union members had been working without a contract since June 1, 2023. About 700 workers were on strike, the union said. The deal came after weeks of inactivity, with Virgin Hotels reporting as recently as last week that the Culinary hadn’t returned to the negotiating table.

The latest edition of Take a Lap with @mikegrimala is available now!
The concept is simple: We invite a UNLV athlete, coach or sports personality to hop in a motorized cart and take a lap around the Thomas & Mack Center. During the course of the ride, we hope to learn more about the people who make up the Rebels’ athletic culture — and have a good time along the way.
In this episode, UNLV women’s basketball star @kiara.jackson3 discusses the team’s quest for a fourth straight Mountain West title and raises her voice for a volume check.
