This is the kind of story I Love to do. It involves a friend of mine that used to play music here in Las Vegas for many years, Nashville with his family, and other places over his long career. His name was Don Holiman. When I met Don, I worked at Sam’s Town Western Emporium here in Las Vegas through a mutual friend, musician, and coworker Barney Horn. I used to listen to Don play there quite often after work. He was a great entertainer and Musician and very accomplished guitar player. He would periodically bring his hats over to the Emporium for a little clean up and shaping. Usually Barney or I would do it. Don and his family later moved to Nashville after being in Vegas for many years to pursue song writing, but later moved back out to the Las Vegas area and not long after he passed on. His daughter Erin went on stage with her Dad when she was quite young. And in the earler years his other childern Donnie&Robin also performed with Don. Later on Erin and her husband Victor Ruiz, teamed up with Don when in Nashville and played quite a while together with Victor playing rhythm&lead, Don doing pedal steel, and Erin playing bass. And all also doing vocals as well. Now to fast forward to the present. Victor got in touch with me on reshaping and renovating a couple of Don’s hats for him and Erin’s son Julian. After a little evaluation, and getting some measurements and pictures I went to work to restyle them to the way that Julian wanted them to look. They both came out very well and worked on Julian. Now Julian plays drums with his Mom and Dad on stage as part of the Bipolar Express Band, wearing Don’s Hats. What the cool part about this that the legacy of Don’s music lives on through his family today, and his hats that he once wore are still on stage with the 2nd generation. How awesome it that! Thank you all for supporting live music. music Express Aldean’s Las Vegas 2nd generation ’s Town the past Hatsmith Vegas
