Moving from Utah to Las Vegas was perhaps one of the hardest decisions we made.🥹
Leaving behind our children, our grandchildren, our family and friends 🥲
Who would do such a thing?
But something was brewing inside of me about 2 1/2 years ago. I couldn’t get it out of my head. I felt like I was missing something. I felt like I wasn’t moving forward. Was Utah it for us? Was this all there was for us?
Within 6 months of making the decision to pull the trigger on moving, we made Las Vegas our new home 🏡 (well, Henderson).
And we haven’t looked back 🎉
In one year of living in Las Vegas, here is what I have learned:
1. That starting over is HARD!!! But it can be done! ✅
2. That taking risks and just losing sight of the shore will bring amazing opportunities of growth your way. 🌊
3. That there IS LIFE AFTER UTAH 🏔️
4. That God will ALWAYS watch over you, your kids, grandkids, families and friends.
5. That God has a plan much bigger and better than anyone can imagine. ☀️

DID YOU KNOW you can file for a Declaration of Homestead in Las Vegas? 🏙️
What is a Declaration of Homestead, you ask??? It is a declaration to the County to protect your property from any general credit claims.
When you record a Declaration of Homestead, Nevada law protects the equity 💰 in your home up to $605,000 from creditor claims such as unpaid medical bills, bankruptcy, charge card debts, business/personal loans, and accidents.
For example, if the value of your home is $645,000 and you have a first mortgage of $485,000 plus a second mortgage of $10,000, the equity is $150,000.
NOTE: The Homestead law does not protect you against debts secured by a mortgage or deed of trust, payment of taxes, IRS lien, mechanic’s lien, child support or alimony payments.
Here are the steps to file your Declaration of Homestead:
Step 1️⃣: Complete the Homestead Declaration form. The form can be found on the Clark County Website. 👉🏽 Government 👉🏽 Assessor 👉🏽 Homestead
Step 2️⃣: Sign your completed Homestead Declaration form in front of a notary public.
Step 3️⃣: Take your form to the Clark County Recorder’s Office for filing. 💡Be prepared to pay a filing/recording fee (currently $42, but it would be to call them to confirm or check their website).
