A second clip of The Kearns Family from the video for our second single, The Funny Thing About Keeping Moving. It was a challenge to make a video for a song that tells a person’s life story, when you don’t have the budget or time to tell that story realistically. Filmed at our home on our iPhones, check out the full video on our YouTube. @TheKearnsFamilyBand
Susan Kearns first participated in the Highway 62 Art Tours in 2016. And that was when I discovered Snake Jagger and his whimsical and sometimes ironic paintings. His Modern Cowboy portrait featuring an old cowboy on his horse talking on a cell phone struck a chord with me. Time passed and I even got to be friendly with Snake, dropping by his home and studio during Art Tours, and enjoying some laughs together at JTAG and Beatnik Lounge openings. Recently, Snake dropped a couple of hints that he might be working on something. And a couple weeks ago, Susan was able to see it at the opening of Snake Jagger’s Spaghetti Western show (which is up now). I was home sick and haven’t seen it yet, but our portrait will be showing starting this Saturday at the Beatnik Lounge for the Faces and Friends Exhibition of People and Portraits. As per usual, I’m blown away by Snake’s skill at capturing the essence of his subjects. Heck, we look better in the painting than in real life and yet it still looks just like us. Snake, you’re a magician of the highest order. I hope you all will attend the opening this Saturday to see Snake’s work as well as the art of many other talented folks in the desert like Paul Donaldson, Janis Commentz, Kat Johnson, Constance Walsh, Teddy Quinn, Chloe Allred, and Bonnie Brady.
A little bit of the PK duo performing my song Way Out on the Edge of Town with Lorenzo Grassi sitting in on electric guitar. We’re performing at @spaghettiwesternmorongovalley again Saturday, January 6, and perhaps Lorenzo will sit in with us again. We kick off the tunes at 7pm.

Happy new year! Here is today’s @z1077fm.joshuatree Local Music Showcase playlist. Tune in at 4pm or subscribe to the podcast. I’d like to thank all of the musicians from the Joshua Tree area that have shared their music with the show. Together, we’re building a vast digital library that represents the artists that choose to call this corner of the Mojave Desert home. Eight years ago today, December 31, 2015, @suzastardust and I made an offer on a homestead cabin and five acres in Landers, CA, and began our journey to become members of this great desert community. Sure glad to be here! The radio show is part of the journey too and I like that it’s weekly broadcast aligned with this special day for Susan and I. #joshuatree #desertdwellers #offgrid #folkmusician #homestead #discjockey #morongobasinartists #happynewyear #justasmalltowngirl

Two days of mixing two fuzzy basses, heavy drums, and 3 vocals for @yvonnechampagneband was a blast. Here’s a snippet of their Rodger’s & Hart classic cover.
