Finds & Favorites: The $11.50 Steak Lunch!

One of our favorite discoveries is lunchtime at El Parian Steaks & Tequila restaurant in downtown Lancaster, Ohio. We're not sure how they pull it off but the Special Carne Asada features a flavorful steak grilled to your temp on a beautiful wood platter with fresh, bright pico de gallo, jalapeños, savory caramelized onions, sliced avocado, creamy beans with cheese and three soft tortillas for making the most delicious soft tacos around. And it's $11.50 for lunch.

A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER...

It’s been just over a year since I launched The Lancaster Herald. My goal was to provide a positive news source and community connection for our southeast Ohio communities. Today, I’m looking for my replacement - someone who would take over as publisher to build on that mission.

In April 2024, we received an email from a museum docent at The Green-Meldrim House in Savannah, Georgia. Marty Barnes had found a story we published by Michael Johnson, the director of the Sherman House Museum. It was about the artistic talents of General William Sherman and resulted in a flurry of research that filled in the blanks of the Savannah museum's understanding of Lancaster's native son.

Today, we published the story submission from docent Marty Barnes and invite all Lancaster history buffs to read details about the General's time in Savannah, Georgia, as The March to the Sea came to a close.

In April 2024, we received an email prompting us to extend an invitation to contribute this story, sure to be of interest to local history buffs. We thank Marty Barnes for taking the time to close the loop on a Lancaster, Ohio - Savannah, Georgia connection of two homes, a native son and a moment in...
