SPREADING KINDNESS – WHY ME?
My craving for kindness is in my soul. It began when I was a child and had earaches. My grandfather would hold me in his lap, sing songs from his day to me, and blow smoke in my ear. (I’m not so sure, but I wonder if that smoke may have caused my hearing loss today.) I felt so treasured and loved and that was saying a lot when you come from a family of nine.
My grandmother taught me how to cook and can foods. She even showed me how to clean a freshly-slaughtered chicken, which I never plan to do. She is also the one who rubbed me with menthol chest rub and put a warm cloth right out of the dryer on my chest when I had a cold. I married young and had three babies in 4 years. I chose a man who was never kind. He used words and physical actions to “keep me in line”. Barefoot and pregnant was how he kept me at home and under his control. After twelve years, my prayers were answered and I escaped, saved my children and myself and began my road to recovery. I was blessed by God all my life. I was able to earn a degree in Marketing, begin a successful career in sales and marketing and led my children to a normal life.
I have an overwhelming sense of goodwill in my heart as I believe I was saved for a purpose. My heart is in a good place. I show kindness in many ways. I have smile wrinkles from smiling my way through life. My positive state of mind I spread to others. I open doors, help people who struggle, and talk to everyone. I leave helpful, positive comments on social media whether I know them or not, and I listen. So many people just need to talk, no matter what age they are. By listening, I try to practice problem solving for others.
From this caring comes courage, because not everyone will accept kindness. I try to follow the “what would Jesus do” philosophy. A certain number of people will never approve of what I do, so I have learned to accept that and move on to the rest who may need what I offer.
I hope you find a warm fuzzy place right now where you feel marginally well or better. Get comfortable and enjoy my blog. I hope it will provide you with a distraction from every day worries and boredom. Make a recipe and see how accomplished you will feel.
I am honored to share my blog and I hope you join me in kindness, and share with family and friends.
Be Blessed!
