You can’t find the right answer without asking the right questions. Trifilm is proud to have worked with Microsoft to create “The Prompt”, a series hosted by Trevor Noah, Microsoft’s Chief Questions Officer.
In the latest episode, Trevor sits down with Dr. Jonathan Bricker, a behavioral psychologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The two explore how the role of AI can help people quit smoking through a chat-based app called QuitBot. In 1980, the average time between major disasters was 82 days. Now, it’s 10 days. With the volume of disaster rapidly growing, the need for help increases exponentially. Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization is focused on helping people before, during, and after a disaster.
The Trifilm team partnered with Microsoft Unlocked to help tell Team Rubicon’s story of building community connection in the face of natural disaster.
Trifilm is proud to announce in partnership with Seafair Festival: “Torchlight Film Festival” for emerging film makers in the Pacific Northwest - coming Summer 2024!
If you've been tuning into any of the @seafairfestival races this weekend, you might've seen our Film Festival teaser circulating out in the wild. The team had a lot of fun creating this sneak peek.
Stay tuned for more scheduling and submission details in the months ahead!
This past weekend, the Trifilm team had some hometown fun – we took to the skies, waters, and shores of Lake Washington to capture this year’s iconic Seafair-ing traditions and community events in partnership with Seafair Festival.
Since its origin in 1951, Seattle’s annual Seafair Festival has been an integral part of our city’s cultural fabric. Today, the annual marine tradition lives on — connecting communities, celebrating Seattle’s rich history, and reinforcing Seattle's self-professed moniker as the "boating capital of the world."
The day Nunavut went dark: Triflm worked with @Microsoft Unlocked to tell a story of community resilience in the face of an isolating, digital threat.
Nunavut is an Inuktitut word for “our land”. A land that is home to over 30,000 indigenous peoples and stretches across the majority of the Canadian Arctic, making it Canada’s largest northernmost territory. The Arctic climate proves to be harsh and access for residential communities is limited. When a ransomware attack hit the Government of Nunavut’s system, residents’ ties to critical resources and services were severed.
Here’s to the countless landscapes, personalities, interests and mediums that fuel our identity and help shape the stories we tell.

Jugalbandi: In a country where access to information is limited and a diversity of language flourishes, there is an opportunity to use technology to bridge the technological and linguistic divide. Trifilm senior producer Jordan Siegman traveled to India to capture this transformative story as a part of a collection of work we produced for Microsoft's 2023 Build developer conference.
We are days away from the World Premier of Between the Rains at the Tribeca Film Festival. Saturday, June 10th NYC. Visit https://www.betweentherains.com/ for more details.
Filmed over the course of four consecutive years during record low annual precipitation in northern Kenya, Between the Rains is a feature collaboration with the Turkana-Ngaremara community that seeks to understand the experiences of a childhood caught within a traditional culture that is a casualty of climate change.

“Our biggest challenges — human health, the health of our societies, economies and ecosystems, depend on the smallest of species. Insects pollinate the food we eat, microbes invent the antibiotics we take and viruses generate the epidemics we fight. If we can monitor the small life around us, then we can predict the big.” 🦋🪲🌎🔬🦟
Sharing an animated excerpt from a piece we created that tackles the challenges of using AI and sensor networks to help detect disease outbreaks.
"When the river is full, life is peaceful and without fear. But between the rains, the river dries and neighbors become enemies."

Innovation hinges on our ability to see the world differently. Breaking boundaries and looking between the lines in an effort to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges.
In this fully 3D-animated opening title sequence, the team explored a use of abstract textures, patterns, and materials — inspired by the vast landscape of innovations represented in the series’ episodes. 🌲🧵🌈💠🧬
A few sunny days in the PNW have us turning our sights towards Spring with a look back at this commercial spot we produced/directed for Microsoft Windows. We had the studio in full bloom for this one!
Climate change can seem like a problem that is too big – or too far down the road – to solve. But we can speed the transition to clean energy if we have the courage to do things differently.
Sharing a clip from another piece in this cut-paper animated world that we built with our friends at Bill Gates' Breakthrough Energy ventures.
It's a Kraken double feature this week! Trifilm's Koa Kohler and Dan Grady pulled the mystique of film noir and the high-contrast simplicity of comic strip styling out of the vault for this animated spot showcasing the partnership between WaFd Bank and Seattle Kraken. We had fun watching Seattle Kraken crush The Canucks earlier this week and we're hoping for similar results from tonight's game against The Flames!
A brief clip we captured from poet Rakaya Fetuga delivering her powerful poem at the historic London church, Crypt on the Green. Trifilm’s Rob Lawrence partnered with the poignant and illuminating poet to bring her words to the screen in “Lungs Full”, a poetry film created for an event we produced to help welcome and inspire a new cohort of interns at Microsoft in 2022.
In Rakaya’s own words, this piece is “a love letter to everyone unsure what they're doing next, to the ones with imposter syndrome waiting to witness their power and to the activists I admire who 'act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And do it all the time.'
ALT Decoding Stress Animation
Vibrant textures and surreal gradients interact to create soothing compositions in an abstract, graphic world – seamlessly blending between the episode's live action frames.
We had the pleasure of collaborating with the ultra-talented Carl Johan Hasselrot and Agustin Eguia to bring this graphic reprieve to life for a recent Microsoftt ALT episode.
