TARGET has started limiting the number of Stanley Cups shoppers can purchase.
On December 31, the retailer released the Stanley Cup Valentine’s Day collection, which includes a two-pack of tumblers, stacking pints, and quencher H2.0 tumblers, and they’ve already proved to be highly sought-after.

Shoppers who recently walked into Target were met with a note on shelves that read: “All Stanely Cups: limit is 2 per guest.”
The popular cup comes in red or pink, just in time for Valentine’s Day and the retailer is making sure the cups get into the right hands.
Stanley cups are being resold on eBay and Amazon with a hefty price tag.
To put a stop to this, Target decided to limit the amount of cups shoppers can purchase.
One Target employee took to Reddit and revealed the craze behind the new cups.
“There were 15+ people lined up by 7:45 at my store and they were all antsy. And then when we opened I could hear people’s frantic shopping carts from the back of the store.”
“Absolutely insane,” they added.
THE NEW DROP
The new cups have the same basic design that shoppers love but with a couple of new tweaks.
Shoppers get to pick from two colors, red or pink that range from $20 to $45 depending on size.
To make it special for the holiday, the company added a tiny heart right next to the “Y” of Stanley.
The cups come in several different shapes and sizes: 10 ounces, 16 ounces, 30 ounces, and the classic 40 ounces.
However, they won’t last long as customers are running to stores to grab them.
CUP CRAZE
Employees have had to monitor the amount of Stanley Cups as shoppers are buying them in large quantities only to resell them for hundreds more.
One Target employee wrote on Reddit that their store got in about 50 cups and within minutes all were gone.
“We probably had 50 cups put out before open and the minute the store opened people were rushing in to grab them and we even had a SINGLE order with like 20+ cups,” they said.
Fans commenting on the post revealed that resellers post them on eBay for over $100.
Another said: “As someone who deals with scalpers in my hobbies, it was so nice and satisfying to see people who grabbed 4+ have to put them back because we had a limit of one per customer.”
Stanley cups have become popular travel items and a Target shopper recently revealed how she got two Stanley cups for $9.
Plus, last year Aldi was selling a $10 Stanley Cup dupe in 4 different colors.
