Hapless follows the life of a journalist working for a fictional Jewish newspaper in London[/caption]

Gary Sinyor, creator of the Amazon Prime show about Jewish characters in London, called the snub “shocking”.

Spafax Media, which curates BA’s entertainment, said: “BA asked us to review content.

“Their preference is to be as neutral as possible.

“We’ve been asked to remove Hapless.”

After an outcry, BA made a swift U-turn, and said: “We understand that the decision to review the content has caused upset and hurt to the Jewish community, and we’re sorry – that was never our intention.

“We’re proud to offer a wide range of entertainment options for our customers to enjoy and constantly review these, taking into consideration current events.

“The series will appear on our aircraft early next year.”

And Sinyor said: “I’m obviously delighted that BA has apologised.

“This was not about the Jewish community though I’m grateful for the support.

“Hapless is intended for the mainstream audience and our national airline made a wrong decision in picking on a British comedy with Jews in it.”

The show is now scheduled to appear on the airline’s in-flight line-up early in the new year.

BRITISH Airways has been rocked by a second steward death over the Christmas break after a 52-year-old worker died in a hotel room during a stopover.

The BA steward was found dead on December 23 after failing to report for duty.

Two BA stewards died unexpectedly while working over the Christmas break[/caption]

His flight from Newark to London Heathrow was cancelled, with passengers re-booked onto later flights.

Devastated colleagues were flown home as passengers after raising the alarm.

The sad news comes after another BA steward, also 52, collapsed and died while on duty in front of shocked passengers on New Year’s Eve.

The steward tragically collapsed as the busy flight from London Heathrow to Hong Kong prepared to depart.

A source said: “Crew are frantic. These were two healthy people who suddenly dropped dead.

“There were no reported underlying health issues.

“The crew were family men, and leave devastated families in shock and disbelief.

“It has been a traumatic festive period for BA’s flying team. Everyone is deeply upset.”

Travellers and holidaymakers were in their seats when the steward collapsed and first aid was administered in vain.

Doors were locked on BA Flight 32 and the pilot had requested to push-back to head to the runway when the crew member suddenly collapsed in the rear galley.

The captain urgently called for medical assistance and a passenger trained in first aid raced to help.

But despite the arrival of police and ambulance teams, tragically the steward could not be resuscitated and devastated passengers were told the New Year’s Eve flight was being cancelled due to a “medical emergency”.

Passengers were rebooked onto another flight – BA31 – the next day.

British Airways told The Sun: “Our thoughts are with our colleagues’ family and friends at this difficult time.”

The incident happened just hours after drugs and guns were seized in raids on the British Virgin Islands

Just hours after drugs and guns were seized in raids, the ex-Greater Manchester Police detective was found dead in his car submerged in the sea.

Police chiefs in the British Overseas Territory passed the case to a coroner.

But the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has told The Sun his death was an “unfortunate accident” and an inquest appears to have been scrapped.

Asked if relatives thought divorced dad-of-four Paul’s death was suspicious, niece Anne, of Bolton, said: “Everyone thinks the same thing. How do you end up in the ocean?

“We are angry we have been left in the dark.”

A source said Paul’s death in October rattled colleagues on the Caribbean isle of Tortola.

They said: “It has unnerved a lot of them. They’re not wanted there.”

Police Commissioner Mark Collins, ex-Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys Police, said: “I have nothing that suggests any foul play has taken place.

“I don’t think we can rule out a medical episode and I don’t think we can rule out a malfunction with the vehicle.”

He was travelling home from work on his motorbike when it was in a collision with a Toyota Prius.

Cameron had recently moved to Northamptonshire from neighbouring Bedfordshire.

The 27-year-old driver of the Prius has been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

Cameron’s parents Alison and Dan have now issued a heartfelt tribute to their son.

They said: “Cameron was a polite, well-mannered, young man. He was loving, caring, thoughtful and affectionate and loved by all who knew him.

“He was a good student in school and received As and Bs in his GCSEs, before he enrolled at the WIXAMS Football Academy for two years followed by a year at Bedfordshire University.

“Cameron always kept out of trouble and had recently got himself a good job with the National Accident Helpline.

“He loved football – Arsenal was his team – he also enjoyed gaming and spending time with his friends.

“He especially loved his family – they were the most important thing to him. He just loved life.”

Cops are now appealing for witnesses who were in the area and who may have seen either the horror smash or the run-up to it.

They said a Stagecoach bus arrived shortly afterwards, and there may have been witnesses on this coach.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit or phone Northants Police on 101 quoting reference 23000785545 or incident 530 of 22/12/2023.

Buxton in Derbyshire was struck by the earthquake at 5.30pm this evening.

A UK TOWN has been hit by an EARTHQUAKE – with 2.5 magnitude tremors felt yards from its centre.

Buxton in Derbyshire was struck by the earthquake at 5.30pm this evening.

A small earthquake hit Buxton in Derbyshire this evening

The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the tremor measured a tiny 2.5 on the Richter scale.

The epicentre of the quake was just 2.5km north west of the picturesque market town, at a depth of 3km.

No members of the public are thought to have noticed the tremors.

The most severe earthquake to hit the UK was recorded in Dogger Bank in the North Sea – 60 miles off the Yorkshire coast.

The tremor reached 6.1 on the Richter scale and caused structural damages around the epicentre.

A BGS spokesperson said: “Although distant from the nearest plate boundary, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, earthquakes in the UK occur as crustal stresses within the tectonic plates are relieved by movement occurring on pre-existing fault planes.

“The driving forces for earthquake activity in the UK are unclear.”

It comes as Brits have been told not to leave home during Storm Henk, with forecasters issuing a danger to life warning.

Paramedics and firefighters scrambled to a road in Orpington, south London after a woman was crushed by a tree.

The London Fire Brigade is now urging people in the capital to stay indoors and to only travel if they need to.

In Birmingham a brave passer-by rescued a three-year-old child and a driver from a car submerged in flood water.

The hero then secured the vehicle to the bridge to prevent it being washed away, local cops said.

A father also rescued an unresponsive woman from the freezing River Severn in Worcester after spotting her “floating like a mannequin”,

Colin McGarva, 31, waded into the fast-flowing river to save the motionless 50-year-old woman.

Families were even forced to abandon their caravans in the Billing Aquadrome in Northampton, this afternoon, thanks to the torrid conditions.

A strong police presence was still active in the area into the evening[/caption]

Clips circulated on social media show how cops were forced to defend themselves as protesters were seen hitting police cars with sticks.

Others armed with batons rushed along the road towards officers.

Amid the chaos, the group can be seen launching missiles and throwing plastic barriers at police.

Four officers were injured, one of whom was taken to hospital and has now been discharged.

Eight people were arrested for offences including violent disorder, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on an emergency worker, the Met said.

The chaos caused gridlock in the suburb after a major road had to be closed near The Lighthouse Theatre.

The protest was related to “tensions in the Eritrean community”, the force added.

Reports claimed a group arrived to protest against a meeting inside in support of the government of the East African nation.

Cops in helmets were spotted marching in and forming a line after the brawl erupted.

The force stood with shields in hand after it appeared they had kettled the group – with about 60 protesters still behind the police cordon.

Met Police this afternoon said: “Officers are on scene in Camberwell Road, SE5 where there is a protest with approximately 50 people gathered outside a private venue.

“Additional officers are on their way to the location to assist with the demonstration.”

Around 2.30pm, the Southwark branch of the Met said: “A section 35 dispersal order has been put in place in the area of Camberwell Road, Southwark, until 7am.

“Police officers will have the power to exclude a person from the area for a period of up to 48 hours with an Inspector’s authority.”

The girl, who is under 16, was allegedly left distraught after her online character was attacked by others.

Whilst there was no physical attack, police said the girl suffered psychological and emotional trauma.

The assault took place in the metaverse, the virtual reality world launched by Meta and Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg.

It is seen as the next major evolution of the internet.

Users wear a virtual reality headset and interact with others via their playable avatars.

The victim was in an online “room” with a large number of users when she was “r***d”.

A senior officer working on the case said: “This child experienced psychological trauma similar to that of someone who has been physically r***d.

“There is an emotional and psychological impact on the victim that is longer term than any physical injuries.

“It poses a number of challenges for law enforcement given current legislation is not set up for this.”

It is not the first time online avatars have been sexually assaulted.

Several players of Horizon Worlds, a free VR online game run by Meta, have reported being attacked by other players.

Meta said: “The kind of behaviour described has no place on our platform, which is why for all users we have an automatic protection called personal boundary, which keeps people you don’t know a few feet away from you.”

DOG owners have been warned their pets love to eat a popular Christmas decoration… that could kill.

Dog behaviourist Nanci Creedon revealed snow globes can be lethal to pooches – along with other popular ingredients for your festive feast.

Snow globes can be lethal when it comes to dogs[/caption]

The warning comes after two dogs tragically died last year after eating the deadly Christmas decoration.

Nanci explained: “A big one is snow globes. Dog owners really need to be wary if they have them in the house.

“Snow globes are actually filled with anti-freeze which is absolutely deadly to dogs.

“It kills dogs very quickly, but it also tastes very nice to dogs.

“It’s a big hidden danger. It’s so important if you’re a first-time dog owner that you do all of your research of what is toxic to dogs before you decorate your home.

“You might not realise how toxic things like fruitcake can be – or even just things like garlic and onions.

“There are going to be risks – from electric wires that dogs can chew on to gifts being left underneath the tree. It’s just so important.”

ANTI-FREEZE DEATH

It comes after a dog trainer lost two of her pooches last Christmas after they lapped up a poisonous liquid from a snow globe.

Caroline Osbourn’s two dogs, Milo, a 17-week-old Labrador, and Lexi, a seven-year-old rescue dog are believed to have died from drinking anti-freeze.

The 46-year-old claimed she heard a crash from her kitchen and when she rushed into the room her dogs were licking the liquid from a snow globe.

As she cleaned up the mess, she noticed the clear fluid felt both oily and sticky.

A quick search online said the spherical trinkets often contain anti-freeze.

According to dog welfare group The Kennel Club, anti-freeze is extremely poisonous to dogs and can cause brain, lung and kidney damage.

The group said the liquid can taste sweet making it ‘irresistible’.

Caroline urged all dog owners to bin their snow globes to avoid their own animals facing a similar heartbreaking fate.

Caroline said: “I had no idea [snow globes] had antifreeze in them.”

“That snow globe was 15-years-old and nothing had ever happened with it before.

“I wouldn’t have had it in the house – We’ve got another snow globe too but I’ve binned that now and I urge others to do the same.”

“Please if you have any snow globes be careful with them, I would not wish this on my worst enemy.”

So pooches don’t feel too left out over the festive period, Dogs Trust have came up with a recipe using leftovers from your Christmas dinner to make the perfect pies instead.

Simply save some plain chicken or turkey – making sure there are no bones – grab some leftover veg, add a sprinkling of cheddar cheese and cram it into your pastry.

But Brits have to be on the ball with their pet’s eating habits all year round too.

Grapes, raisins, sultanas, avocado, onion and macadamia nuts are all unsafe for your dogs to eat.

Corn on the cob could even make your fur baby unwell, as it can cause a blockage in their intestine.

Today Cadi Williams will today open her sixth mystery present from Ken Watson, who was 87 when he died in 2018.

A SEVEN-year-old girl is preparing to open the latest of 14 years’ worth of Christmas presents pre-bought by her elderly neighbour before he died of cancer.

Today Cadi Williams will today open her sixth mystery present from Ken Watson, who was 87 when he died in 2018.

Cadi opening her presents from kindly neighbour Ken Watson[/caption]

He left 14 presents to open after his death[/caption]

Kind hearted Ken Watson had lived next door[/caption]

Ken lived near her parents Owen and Caroline Williams, in Barry, Wales, for the last two years of his life, and befriended Cadi.

When he died Ken’s daughter Jenny surprised the parents by delivering a sack full of 14 presents for Cadi, then two, from Ken, which she found in his home.

The family were “knocked off their feet” by his generosity – which he had kept secret from everyone.

It started a tradition of Cadi opening her ‘Ken gift’ every Christmas Eve – and so far she’s received toys, books and games.

Owen, 45, managing director of a social media agency, said: “It was confounding, magical, ridiculous and heart-warming.

“It was the feeling that gets you in the throat – when your brain is processing quicker than your heart can take it.”

He and Caroline, 39, an assistant head teacher, keep the box of presents from Ken in their attic.

They are all individually wrapped so each present opening is a surprise.

Owen added: “We tell Cadi about how on a dark night in December her neighbour passed away.

“She doesn’t really remember him, but you can always keep someone’s memory alive by telling stories.

“There’s something about a kindly neighbour who put away these gifts for her which is quite powerful. There isn’t an ulterior motive.

“People get too up in arms about people doing things for other people especially when there’s children involved.

“It’s good to open you mind and your heart and think sometimes good things will happen and that’s all there is to it.”

He added: “What’s sweet is seeing my daughters development as well. She’s gone from being a toddler when this started and now she’s seven. Its like a record of her growing up.”

The family couldn’t wait till Christmas to open the first present from Ken in 2018.

So they immediately opened it – a book called ‘Christmas Eve at the Mellops’, by Tomi Ungerer.

Cadi later unwrapped a cuddly goat on Christmas the same year and in 2019 she received a train set spelling ‘Cadi’.

In 2020 she opened a giant Crayola colouring book and the following year she got a book, ‘Ghostly Beasts’ by Joan Aiken.

Last Christmas she received the three-book collection of the ‘What Katy Did’ series by Susan Coolidge.

“Cadi reads like reading is going out of fashion,” Owen said.

He uses in his annual Twitter post revealing Cadi’s gift, to encourage others to be kind for the sake of being kind, and to get to know their neighbours.

“People are looking for some comfort at Christmas and the reaction has been warm,” he said.

“It feels like a Richard Grant film. You get a small group of people who think it’s really weird but I can only assume they have no love in their life.

‘FATHER CHRISTMAS’

“It will remain a tradition and it’s a digital tradition now. Humanity has an ability to be very warm and loving but also completely cynical.

“Ken was just one of those people that others adored. He was like a Father Christmas figure.

“He didn’t have grandchildren and he missed his wife dreadfully. She had passed away ten years prior to us moving in.

“I think there was a gap in his life. He yearned for human connection.”

Ken was known to his neighbours for being a generous, fatherly figure.

For her first birthday, Ken gifted Cadi a giant cuddly Lion called Elvis, and he went on to buy them for every child on the street – costing £20 a pop.

Owen said: “I went into a lovely local toy shop called Giggles and I happened to mention to the owner that our neighbour had bought Cadi one of the lions for her birthday.

“She replied ‘was it Ken?’ “She then told me he came in after seeing them in the window and decided to buy them for all the children in the street.”

Ken was an accomplished man, surprising Owen with tales of his past adventures.

He said “He had done a wing walk for charity – he was a daredevil in his day. One of his jobs was as a salvage diver. He was also a master baker for a while, owned a bakery and he baked his own wedding cake.

“He played the accordion. You could hear his oompah music through the walls. He was a carpenter and he had a workshop.

“The first time I met him in 2015 he was on a ladder in blue overalls bouncing his ladder across the front of his house rather than coming down and moving it across.

“I looked at my neighbour and mouthed the words of ‘what the heck.'”

“I took a bottle of wine round the houses and said hello to all my neighbours. It costs nothing to be nice.

“I maintain that it’s important to get to know your neighbours. If you were desperate for milk for the baby or its late and you needed something you would go to them.”

A TWISTED boyfriend who pretended his ex was still alive after he murdered her and dumped her body in a lay-by has been jailed.

Darren Hall, 36, used Sarah Henshaw’s phone to text her friends and neighbours to say she had voluntarily left her home.

Sarah Henshaw was murdered at her home[/caption]

Darren Hall has been jailed for life

In reality, the mum-of-two was lying dead 20 miles away in a lay-by on the A617 near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.

Hall has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 17 years for murdering 31-year-old Sarah at her home in Ilkeston.

Sentencing, Mr Justice Goss said: “Sarah Henshaw was 31 years of age.

“She was a loud, outgoing and fun-loving person with an infectious laugh.

“The harm you have done and the suffering you have caused can never be undone by any sentence of this court.”

In powerful victim impact statements, Sarah’s sister Kelsie Henshaw, branded Hall a “cruel, selfish man”.

She added: “Sarah was really caring and would do anything to help anyone.

“We have nightmares about Darren Hall and how he murdered our lovely sister and the evil way he just dumped her body.

“Our hearts are broken forever. We will always carry Sarah forward in our lives.”

While Sarah’s mum Lorraine said Hall was a “monster” who disposed of her daughter’s body like a “piece of rubbish”.

She said: “All Sarah ever wanted was stability and to settle down with a partner who loved her.

“To me, he (Darren Hall) is a monster who committed the most evil crime a person can do.”

The couple met in 2011 but split six years later, Derby Crown Court was told.

They reunited last year but Hall was violent towards Sarah and the relationship was strained.

The horror unfolded on June 20 this year when Sarah told Hall to leave her home.

A loud bang was heard by neighbours shortly after but the killer tried to blame this on the pet dog having a fit.

He claimed he took his duvet, hopped in his van and drove around for an hour.

When he returned, he said there was a note from Sarah telling him she had gone to a pal’s house.

The monster told officers after his arrest he didn’t know where she was and that it was “their job” to find her.

But during his evidence, Hall changed his story and claimed Sarah had fallen down the stairs.

The killer said: “As I got to the top of the stairs, she goes to push me downstairs.

“I don’t think she was doing it to push me down the stairs, she has got her hand on my back saying, ‘Go on, get out’.

“I put my right hand out to brace myself and she pushed a bit harder, I swung my left arm back out at her and as I turned around she was already falling down the stairs.

“I just saw her fall head first. It was so quick, it was like I blinked and then she was at the bottom, it was so quick.

“She was not moving, she was just in a pile at the bottom of the stairs.”

Hall claimed he then “just panicked” after realising Sarah was dead and drove her body 20 miles away to the lay-by.

The carpet fitter stopped for nine minutes before dumping Sarah uncovered near some woodland.

He then messaged one of the mum’s pals before chucking her phone out the window of his work van as he drove back to Sarah’s home.

Once there, Hall messaged the device to “try and make out as if she had just left”.

How you can get help

Women's Aid has this advice for victims and their families:

Always keep your phone nearby.

Get in touch with charities for help, including the Women’s Aid live chat helpline and services such as SupportLine.

If you are in danger, call 999.

Familiarise yourself with the Silent Solution, reporting abuse without speaking down the phone, instead dialing “55”.

Always keep some money on you, including change for a pay phone or bus fare.

If you suspect your partner is about to attack you, try to go to a lower-risk area of the house – for example, where there is a way out and access to a telephone.

Avoid the kitchen and garage, where there are likely to be knives or other weapons. Avoid rooms where you might become trapped, such as the bathroom, or where you might be shut into a cupboard or other small space.

If you are a victim of domestic abuse, SupportLine is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm to 8pm on 01708 765200. The charity’s email support service is open weekdays and weekends during the crisis – [email protected].

Women’s Aid provides a live chat service – available weekdays from 8am-6pm and weekends 10am-6pm.

You can also call the freephone 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.

He also disposed of her dressing gown and her slippers in a skip while “covering his tracks” through “calculated and controlled” actions.

Sarah was discovered six days later but a cause of death could not be found – although she had bruising on her neck.

DI Maria Pleace, who led the investigation, said: “Darren Hall is a manipulative, deceiving and dangerous individual.

“Only two people know what exactly happened that night. Sarah cannot tell us, and Hall refuses to give a factual account of the events.

“What we can be sure of is that Sarah’s life ended at his hand, that he dumped her body in the hope that she would never be found and then fabricated a story that Sarah had simply left.”
