The body of the 34-year-old

THE chilling final social media post of barrister Alice McShera showed she was “loving life” before she was brutally murdered in her hotel room.

The body of the 34-year-old family law barrister was found at Crown Towers Perth, in Burswood, Australia on Monday morning.

Alice McShera, 34, was allegedly murdered by Cameron John Pearson in her hotel room in Perth on Monday morning[/caption]

In a chilling final social media post, she said she was loving life before being brutally murdered[/caption]

“”

Ms McShera had been staying at the Crown Towers luxury hotel in Burswood

Just hours before on Sunday, she had posted on Facebook to thank her best friend – a fellow lawyer she referred to as “Lawyer of the Year” – for the luxurious stay.

“Thanks to my bestie I’m spending the night before my next surgery at Crown Towers,” she said. “Drinking Dom (Perignon champagne), watching old DVDs and loving life.”

However, she would soon be killed in an alleged domestic violence incident.

Cameron John Pearson, 42, was charged with murder on Monday night by homicide squad detectives.

Police said Mr Pearson, who is understood to be Ms McShera’s partner, sustained “serious self-inflicted injuries”.

He was able to stand during his appearance at Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, however.

The Bibra Lake man had to be repeatedly asked if he understood the charge of murder against him, according to news.com.au.

Magistrate Stephen Butcher remanded Mr Pearson in custody to face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on November 22.

Authorities sent a number of resources to Crown Towers, which is located within Perth’s Crown Casino complex, after an alert was raised about a dead woman found inside her room about 11.10am.

St John Ambulance paramedics treated Ms McShera at the scene but she could not be saved.

Ms McShera allegedly suffered head injuries consistent with a “blunt instrument”.

WA Police Inspector Geoff Desanges told media on Tuesday that Crown security staff checked on the hotel room after receiving a call from a concerned family member.

“A family member who was seeking to get hold of one of the people in that room had spoken to Crown Towers,” he said.

“We’re still to identify the full circumstances of the relationship, and what brought about the events of (Monday).”

Inspector Desanges added that there appeared to be a “passage of time” between Ms McShera being injured and police being called to the hotel.

Ms McShera was based at the Murray Chambers in Perth, who have paid tribute to the barrister.

Murray Chambers said everyone had been left “deeply shocked at the terrible news regarding our respected and much-loved colleague and friend”.

“Alice was an experienced and very capable advocate who has been an integral part of the Murray Chambers family,” the statement said.

“The profession will be the poorer for her loss. We feel keenly for Alice’s family and friends at this time.”

Clement and Co Family and Criminal Lawyers said they were “deeply shocked and saddened”.

“A life senselessly taken in unimaginable circumstances,” they said.

“Let us remember Alice not for the tragic circumstances of her passing, but for the positive impact she had on so many lives.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Alice’s family, friends and colleagues at Murray Chambers.

“We share in their grief and offer our unwavering support during this difficult time.”

Law Society President Ante Golem and Bar Association President Brahma Dharmananda said: “On behalf of our respective associations and our members we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Ms McShera’s family,”

Keegan Family Lawyers said in a social media post that Ms McShera had been “a strong woman, a powerful woman, an amazing barrister and lawyer.”

“You fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves. You were a friend, a colleague and someone to aspire to. I cannot believe you have been taken from us.

“Our community will mourn your loss! You will be so missed. I am so sad.”

Coles shopper shares little-known hack to get free items with your online order – but there’s a catch https://ift.tt/gfieVDp

The anonymous shopper told of a lit

A COLES customer has left fellow shoppers stunned after revealing a very simple loophole to receive free ice cream.

The anonymous shopper told of a little known trick that he and his girlfriend have been using to take advantage of a Coles Online policy.

A Coles customer has shared a little-known loophole to receiving free ice cream[/caption]

The anonymous shopper revealed their hack on The Kick It Forward podcast

By opting in to receive substitutes when making a home delivery order, the couple have been able to exploit the loophole.

That’s because the Australian-based chain offer their alternative product for free if it doesn’t suit the demands of the customer.

“Every week I do a Coles Online order,” the shopper explained on The Kick It Forward podcast.

“When you order something and it isn’t available, they send you an alternative.

“But if you say you’re not happy with the alternative they choose for you, you get the item for free.”

In order to ensure they get a free alternative each time, the shopper revealed his sneaky trick of choosing something that is guaranteed to be out of stock.

“Recently my girlfriend and I have found a Japanese ice cream which is consistently not available in Australia,” he continued.

“But we order it and get sent an alternative, which we say we’re not happy with.

“We’re now receiving a free tub of ice cream every week.”

However, as with most things that appear too good to be true – there’s a catch.

While Coles does give credits to shoppers who are unhappy with their substitutes, the supermarket may refuse to do this for “repeat offenders”.

According to 7news.com.au, if a customer has repeatedly had a credit applied for a substitute issue within the last three months, a Coles Online agent may prevent any further credits being applied.

Nonetheless, a Coles spokesperson said that the supermarket is happy to provide substitutes to online customers.

“Coles Online encourages customers opt in to receive substitutions so we can replace out of stock items with similar products for their convenience,” the spokesperson said.

“If you have chosen to allow substitutions, we’ll choose a similar item that is either a different size of the same product or a different brand.”

“If we substitute any item you’ll be charged the lower of the original or the substitute price. When an item is out of stock you won’t be charged for that item.”

Following the shopper’s reveal, however, social media users were stunned by the hack.

“This is superb. I’m really impressed,” one said.

Coles has recently hit the headlines for turning to body cams and hidden cameras as theft continues to rise.

The supermarket chain make this move while the cost of living continues to skyrocket, and customers tight on cash turn to shoplifting.

Aussie shoppers have also vowed to boycott any supermarket that forces them to use a self-checkout line.

Customers are now complaining that too many stores are lowering their level of service and are making the case that they shouldn’t have to scan and bag their own groceries.

A DISABLED child has been killed in a horrific accident at a Sydney institution for kids with special needs.

The child was reported to be stuck under a lift before dying on the scene[/caption]

Emergency services raced to the scene on Cleveland Street in Wahroonga at 2pm after receiving a report about the trapped child.

Firefighters on the ground attempted to rescue the boy but he died on the spot.

The school authorities confirmed the child’s tragic death in a public statement – and said the school premises would remain closed for the foreseeable future.

They said: “St Lucy’s School is very sad to confirm the tragic death of one of our students this afternoon.

“We are cooperating with the investigating police and are not able to make any further statement today.

“The school will be closed to students until further notice.

“We ask for privacy and space for our staff and families to grieve at this difficult time as we remember our beautiful student.”

The Sydney cops have now set up a crime scene around the school for the disabled and are in motion to recover the child’s body.

A NSW Police spokesperson said an independent report will be prepared for the coroner.

St. Lucy is a private Catholic Dominican School focusing on kids with distinguished disabilities.

It started as a primary school before expanding its operations to include secondary education for the students in 2019.

Currently, the institution caters to around 230 students from kindergarten to year 12.

Jules Rangiheuea took to social media to vent her frustration after she was told the table would be charged

A DINER was stunned when she was billed a “cakeage fee” for bringing her own birthday treat to a restaurant.

Jules Rangiheuea took to social media to vent her frustration after she was told the table would be charged a “criminal” $10 per-head for bringing a cake.

Jules Rangiheuea was shocked at the price she was charged for bringing her own cake to a restaurant[/caption]

An outraged Jules wrote: “Bloody hell Sydney, since when did we start charging absolutely criminal prices to have cake at a restaurant?”

She vented: “This is the third restaurant that I’m going to that has said it will be a $10 charge … $10 per person to eat the cake that we have bought.”

“I’m so confused, especially the cost of living. Like people are only going out now to celebrate and a lot of celebrations include cake.”

Although her cake would have to be stored in the restaurant’s fridge Jules was confused as to why the fee was quite so steep.

She said: “I know people are gonna say all the fridge sizing and everything — but have fridges changed since six months ago?

“Cakeage is fair but not at $10 per person.”

And added: “Do you think if we brought our own paper plates, forks and knife for the cake we could still eat it without any charge at the restaurant?”

The social media video which explains the situation has now been viewed more than 24,000 times and some viewers have felt the need to justify the fee.

One wrote: “Cakeage is fair and makes sense when you consider you want the staff to serve you and use the cutlery and plate which will need washing up! And napkins.”

A second said: “It’s the fridge sizing; it’s the cutting, the serving, the washing of plates and cutlery. $10 is excessive but I do understand a charge.”

Another explained: “It’s the same as if you bring a bottle of wine to a restaurant and need to pay a corkage fee.”

A fourth person in the comments section thought Jules had got off lightly as they had been to a pub in Penrith that charged a whopping $30 cakeage fee.

However some agreed that $10 per head was far too pricey.

One viewer wrote: “That is out of control” and another chimed: “I’d charge like $10 max all up not $10 per person!”

Recently we told how some American diners were shocked as a restaurant introduced a “bad parenting fee”.

The Toccoa Riverside Restaurant in the rural town of Blue Ridge, Georgia, has begun dishing out the dining surcharge to encourage parents to keep their children in check.
