Thanksgiving at my mom’s house is usually lively—Dad cracking jokes, Mom running the show, and me helping keep it all together. But this year felt... different.

After my wife passed away, my 8-year-old daughter Penny, who was once the happiest little spark, became quiet and withdrawn.
