You know why “Happiness is only real when shared” is such a cliche? Because it’s so true. One of the greatest joys of life on the road is being able to share the good and the bad with you and our other vanlife enthusiasts here on IG. To show our gratitude for this community, we’ve teamed up with some other #vanlife profiles to produce this special video. We hope you like and give a follow to our friends @chapterby.chapter @feliznavan @fenimoresadventuremore @wazimulife & a VERY special thank you to @VANLIFEFEVER for organizing all of us together and directing us all on this project.
10 Tips we’ve learned living in a van! (You’re gonna wanna SAVE this one)
⠀
1. You need to understand that living in a van does not always look like the highlight reel on #vanlife , but sometimes it does!
⠀
2. Layout matters so much, if you are still in the beggining stages really think about what you need to live in the van. If you plan on working really thinking about what kind of set up you will need to comfortably and consistently do that! We ended up adding a lot of additional bench seating to our original build because we realized later on it was something we needed to be productive when we were in the van.
⠀
3. Water! We vastly underestimated how much we would need for two people when we first set out, really evaluate how much you will need for how long you would like to optimally go between fill ups.
⠀
4. organization is key - everything needs a spot, living in a messy disorganized van makes things much harder than they need to be. However cleaning up can be a quick thing if you make it apart of your morning routine.
⠀
5. You need less than you think. We originally overpacked and have minimized what we carry in the van multiple times!
⠀
6. Paper Maps! We love having a physical map to help plan adventures. We have a National Park adventure atlas we love!
⠀
7. Camping Apps- We love iOverlander but also use freecampsites on the internet.
⠀
8. Towels do not like to dry in the van, try to get them as dry as possible before resorting to hanging them up inside.
⠀
9. Anytime before we drive 200+ miles we do a check up on the van, make sure everything is mechanically looking good to avoid stress on yourself
⠀
10. Do your own oil changes - if you don’t know how, learn! We see so many people paying for this and it will save so much $ in the long run on the road if you can do it yourself
⠀
If you also live in a van please leave any helpful tips and tricks in the comments down below so we can make this a cool reference for anyone really thinki
Cheers! 🎊 Thank you for 1k 😘
Normally we like to celebrate big moments somewhere outside! Like this beautiful beach in Malibu, however while we are #parkedinplace and the beaches are closed, we will be celebrating with photos and memories.
When we bought our van 16 months ago, we couldn’t believe we were finally making our little Home On the Move dream into our reality🚗😭
We had no idea what 2020 would have in store for all of us this year, and we certainly didn’t predict the current situation of not being able to adventure or travel at all. 😔
While we have been pretty bummed to not be traveling as we had planned we have absolutely loved having the opportunity to share more about us, our adventures, our van, and the renovation process with you in the meantime! 🚐🛠🧵👩🏻🤝👨🏼
We can’t wait to get back out there and share more of our adventures but for now...we’ll just keep workin’ on projects and making travel plans.
Thank you everybody for your continuous support through out this journey! ♥️

🦠We’d also like to note we’ve begun using the hashtag #PARKEDINPLACE to share life in one place and bring awareness to our fellow nomads that this is not the time to be traveling but the time to hunker down in place while we help out our local, state, and national community at large! We’d love to see others use the hashtag #PARKEDINPLACE as well to share their stories during this time.
