THE INAUGURAL CATTLE BARON’S BALL OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS: STOMP OUT CANCER
JONESBORO, AR – NOVEMBER 18TH, 2018

Dressed in their favorite boots and denim, over 200 guests saddled up for the inaugural Cattle Baron’s Ball of Northeast Arkansas on Friday November 9th, at the Silos in Bono, AR. This American Cancer Society signature event honored loved ones, celebrated local survivors and raised over $50k for the fight against cancer in Northeast Arkansas. The funds raised benefit the American Cancer Society, the country’s leading organization that is committed to finding a cure for cancer, as well as offering support for families battling the disease. A portion of those funds will be utilized for a new transportation grant to help local cancer patients across Northeast Arkansas.
From survivors receiving special ribbon pins when they walk in, to mason jars of hope lighting up the night – this night was about local cancer survivors and their caregivers. A live performance from the Arkansas Brothers provided guests with interactive-western entertainment. The cowboy’s cuisine for the night was provided by JTown’s Grill, courtesy of Jeffrey Higgins and Lisa Godsey. The event also featured unique event experiences with local “wranglers” and a wide variety of silent auction items. Susan and Fred Cathcart were honored as the first Legacy Award recipients for their contributions to St. Jude. Honorary Survivor, Kimberly Scutero, shared her brave story of her battle against cancer.

“Through the generosity of our sponsors, attendees, and volunteers the inaugural Cattle Baron’s Ball was an enormous success,” said Leslie Conner who was the Event Chair for 2018 and will be for 2019. Joining her in 2019 to Co-Chair will be Heather Isbell Johnson who has stated that, “Words cannot express how much this means to me… I lost my grandmother and best friend to pancreatic cancer as a child.”

Lauren Bassie, the Community Development Manager for the ACS of NEA says she is, “Very proud of the committee’s commitment to a successful debut of this event.” She looks forward to being an ongoing support these leaders as the continue to make their mark on cancer in NEA.

Mayor Harold Perrin’s first call upon his election to the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities this weekend in Los Angeles was to his wife.
The Board post will seat him among the most prominent mayors in the U.S., provide Jonesboro decision-makers access to key contacts around the country, and broaden his network with DC lawmakers.
The ultimate goal is to network and lobby for ways to make Jonesboro better. So tonight we congratulate Mayor Perrin on receiving this esteemed honor and look forward to the fruits of his labor serving Jonesboro.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY SADDLES UP TO FIGHT CANCER

The 1st Annual Cattle Barons’ Ball of Northeast Arkansas is set for Friday, November 9th, 2018
Jonesboro, AR – Put on your cowboy boots and hat, saddle up and get ready to lasso up a good time, for a good cause! The American Cancer Society of Northeast Arkansas announces the arrival of its premier event, the first annual Cattle Barons’ Ball on Friday, November 9th, at 7pm at The Silos in Bono, AR, featuring food, dancing, entertainment, auctions and much more!

“When I was approached about chairing, I was humbled. This inaugural event will fund a desperately needed transportation grant for patients in Northeast Arkansas,” said Leslie Conner, the 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball Event Chair. “It has always been a joy to help others, but to put our boots and stomp out cancer with each committee member and community partner in a way that is tangible and so incredibly meaningful is nothing short of a blessing.”

The Cattle Barons’ Ball 2018 at The Silos is the place to be this November! A few of our outstanding sponsors include St. Bernard’s, Progeny Ag, MOR Media Inc., Gearhead Outfitters and many more. Sponsorships, tables and tickets should be reserved early; space is at a premium.

Your ticket will include a western inspired dinner from JTown’s Grill courtesy of Jeffrey Higgins and live music from the Arkansas Brothers. An auction will be held with many terrific prizes including getaways, sporting events and high-end gifts. Attendees will get to hear our 2019 Honorary Chair, Kimberly Scutero, as she shares her brave story about her fight against cancer. We will present our first annual Legacy Award to Fred and Susan Cathcart for their incredible work in raising more than $5 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Lastly, a special Fund the Mission moment will allow attendees to play a pivotal role in funding our local transportation grant.

The 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball of Northeast hopes to raise significant funds to support the American Cancer Society investing in the fight against cancer. The money raised is central to supporting the ACS mission, which aims to focus its efforts in four main areas: research, education, advocacy, and service.

Sponsorship packages are available right now and are going quickly. For more information, call the American Cancer Society at (870)-316-2031 or visit our website , www.cbbofnea.com or our page, facebook.com/cbbofnea.
