🚨 Xylazine Awareness
Xylazine — also known as “tranq” or “zombie drug” — is a veterinary tranquilizer not approved for human use. It’s increasingly being found mixed with opioids like fentanyl, creating a deadly combination that is devastating communities across the nation.

Those using illegal drugs may not even know xylazine is present, yet exposure can lead to severe wounds, necrosis, or death. Naloxone (Narcan) may not reverse xylazine’s effects, but it should still be administered if an opioid overdose is suspected.

A Special distribution for Carter County SNAP recepients will take place at Elizabethton High School this Thursday, Nov. 13 from 4-6 PM. Please bring your SNAP EBT card and proof of residency, such as a drivers license or utility bill. If you are picking up for someone else, please also bring their SNAP EBT card and a form of identification with address.
