“Forest For the Trees”
Some thoughts from us at Chroma Creative… in no way representative of any other entity or organization:
It is important for us to acknowledge that we are not on the front lines, fighting or dealing directly with the aftermath of addiction. We are also, in no way, pointing a finger. It is our prayer that the perspective that “Forest for the Trees” gives provides a pathway to empathy for some of the hardest working people in this country, the folks that are on the frontlines.
As Christian people, we also feel deeply challenged. A world without addiction would be a beautiful thing; healthy babies and mothers being some of many freed from its grip on their lives. But, that isn’t our reality. From our perspective, we (us specifically) may have at times lacked God-honoring empathy, seeing only the brokenness, and not the person behind it. Loving people in a way that drives us toward getting in their boat feels like walking with the empathy of Jesus alongside those that He certainly would. In regards to this topic, it could be the difference that a mother needs to see a path toward recovery, and healthy baby whose life trajectory look a whole lot different that it could have.
The stories that were shared as part of this process (some that did and some that didn’t make the cut), God used to transform the way that we think about this topic. We don’t have the answers, and are in no way perfect, but I pray that this project has an impact on even one individual, leading to a healthy baby, a recovered mother, and a new found sense of hope.
Forrest for the Trees
This is one of those projects that feels really important. We were honored to have partnered with some incredible folks from the Tennessee Dept of Health and ETSU to produce, direct, and shoot a full length documentary capturing an incredibly important story to tell. There are too many amazing people involved to mention here, but we’re excited to share that we will be hosting a public viewing of the film early next year! More to come! #filmmaking #story #addiction #stigma
A quick clip from this Friday’s episode of the Chroma Creative Podcast.
We LOVE the opportunity to film artists, especially when they are as talented as these folks. So naturally, when @paramountbristol called back in 2020 we were all in. We had an absolute blast shooting and directing their virtual concert series where 7 local artist came together to help raise funds to keep the place open.
