The songs are conceived by Juan DAliaga in collaboration with producer and musician, Dave Levene and his collaborative partner the lyricist, Dale Lawrence. All instruments were played by Dave except drums for which the best session players were selected. A marketable song needs meaningful lyrics and for this Dave employed the writing talents of Dale Lawrence. In order to maintain artistic integrit
y, Dave has handpicked all musicians for live shows. After an exhaustive search, during which time several singers passed the initial audition and were even recorded, Dave finally selected twenty three year old Will Barron from Cumming, Georgia to be the definitive voice of the project. Will's
youthful exuberance, vocal range and crucially his "feel" for the material made him the inevitable choice. When asked about his musical aspirations, Will said, "I came out of the womb singing. By the time I was three years old I knew every Michael Jackson and Prince song because of my mother's obsession with those artists. In middle school and in high school I was in the choir. I knew by then that music was my life and nothing could stop me. After being in all-state choir, all-state barber shop quartet, and all-state solo competitions, singing in front of big crowds of people became second nature to me. By then I was already in my first band and since then I've been making progress with my craft from one band to another. Its my life!"
Juan DAliaga was born in Peru. In the late sixties and early seventies when he was a teenager, Juan played in a few local bands in Lima where he met the rising guitar talent, Dave Levene. In a recent interview, Dave reflected, Juan played bass and I played guitar. Together we covered material by The Beatles, The Kinks, Spirit, The Doors; bands that were popular in those days. In his spare time Juan would try his hand at writing original songs while I would construct the guitar parts, helping with the arrangements and we would make rudimentary recordings of those songs. I eventually went back to The States where I was born while Juan remained in Peru where he became successful working for his familys business. We remained friends over the years, staying in touch by phone and in one of our conversations Juan suggested that since I owned a recording studio and had since become a music professional I might give those songs a fresh chance. That was the genesis of this project. These songs have a special significance to both men and were therefore treated with appropriate respect and reverence. The material has been recorded with state of the art modern techniques but retains a retro soul producing a sound that is both contemporary and reflective of the past. Some of todays edgiest Rock, Hip Hop and R&B producers also enjoy juxtaposing past and present calling them mash-ups, to create something new. Juan and Dave hope you enjoy and appreciate these songs. "If you're a fan of Weezer, the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys or Radiohead, no doubt you're gonna like the Now Playing Band"
