Tonite’s the night! We’re celebrating our 2 year anniversary on this evening’s Hard Stuff. Hard to believe that we’ve been at it this long already. But you know what they say; time flies when you’re having fun! Much thanks to those who have listened to and supported the show since 2023. It is greatly appreciated! And if you’re new to us, don’t worry, there’s no points off for lateness. We love you just the same!

On this week’s show, we’re spinning great tunes from all the bands pictured above. As always, we kick off the Super Tuesday line-up on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio at 6PM ET.

Tonite’s the night! It’s the final Hard Stuff of 2024! Happy New Year to you all!

I can’t believe that we’re already closing out our second year on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio. I want to thank you all for tuning in week after week to the program and also for pledging your support to the show and WFMU during our fundraising marathons. On tonight’s show, I’ll be attempting to tie up a bunch of loose ends; playing stuff that’s been in the pile for months or longer as well as trying to get in as many new acquisitions as possible as well. I don’t know that I’ll be able to get to everything, but I’m sure gonna try!

It all happens tonight at 6PM ET, only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio.

I may have not been able to host Hard Stuff this past Tuesday, but I’ll be damned if they think they can keep me off WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio for an entire week!

I’ll be filling in for the one and only tonight at 6PM ET on her Hooligan program as she is taking a holiday sojourn today. While I love bringing you the heavy every week, it’s always great to be able to do something different from time to time on the WFMU streamwaves. We’ll be heading in a punkier direction this evening, keeping the song lengths to about 3 minutes and under. Less talk, more rock as they say!

Here we are in the second week of December. The temperatures are dropping and people are getting into the holiday spirit. But here on Hard Stuff, December means it’s time for another installment of Prog Stuff. From time to time over the course of the year we turn our attention to the more progressive sounds from the Hard Stuff era, and tonight is one of those. All that, plus we pay tribute to lyricist Pete Sinfield who passed away on November 20th at the age of 80.

Get in and buckle up at 6PM ET, only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio. 📻

The latest installment of Brown Acid series was released last week on Halloween, and that’s always a cause for celebration here on Hard Stuff. So tonight, we’ll be spotlighting tracks off the new volume as well as playing select tracks from prior installments (like we always do). And in keeping up with the theme of new releases, we’ll be playing new tracks from releases from labels such as amongst others.

Take the brown acid tonite at 6PM ET only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio!

THIS IS IT! Today is the last day of WFMU’s Hellraiser Fundraiser, and we’re looking to meet our goal of $340,000 by midnight. We’re about 86% of the way there, so we’re close, but still in danger of missing the mark.

At this point, I’m sure you’re aware of all the great things WFMU has to offer; freeform programming completely ad-free and independent, content curated by human beings and not algorithms, live and on-demand listening options, extensive show archives that go back at least 20 years…the list goes on and on.

But nothing is free and so we rely on our listeners to keep us going year after year after year. So please, consider lending your financial support to WFMU today to ensure we’ll be able to continue to offer everything mentioned above and more. No dollar amount is too small and you can choose from an array of swag that we’ll send you as a token of our appreciation for your support.

Link to pledge in bio and stories.

ALSO! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the 2024 WFMU Record Fair starts tomorrow! That’s right, we’re back in Manhattan this year at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 125 W. 18th St. btw 6th and 7th Aves. Over 200 tables of records, CDs, music memorabilia, and more to dig through! You can visit the WFMU website for more details.

Thank you for your support, and I hope to see some of you this weekend at the Record Fair!

Drop In Presents: “Happy Birthday, Uncle Bob!” With Frank In Queens

Saturday, November 2nd, 6pm - 7pm on Drop-In on WFMU’s Rock’n’Soul Radio

Tasking himself with the Herculean effort of choosing ONLY an hour’s worth of material from a man who has released over 100 (official) albums over the last 40 years, Frank In Queens returns to Drop In in order to celebrate the 67th birthday (10/31/1957) of the fearless leader of Guided By Voices, Robert Pollard. GBV newbies and mega fans are both cordially invited to attend. There will be plenty of beer to go ‘round, and at this party, it’s the attendees who will be receiving the gifts; in the form of a mere drop-in-the-bucket sampling taken from the thousands of songs that Bob has given to the world since 1983. The Club Is Open!

As hinted at last week, tonight’s show features songs about rites, rituals, and sacrifice; more specifically, human sacrifice! Seems somewhat fitting a mere couple of days before Halloween, so we’re going with it!

And speaking of sacrifice, it’s the final week of the 2024 WFMU Hellraiser Fundraiser, and e’re only about 77% of the way to our goal of $340,000 with just two days to go. Perhaps you might consider sacrificing some of your hard earned dollars to ensure that humanly-curated, independent (we’re 100% listener supported!), freeform radio remains that way for the rest of the broadcast year? You can click on the link in the bio to see some of the swag you can choose from as a token of our appreciation for your pledge, as well as checking out the various payment options you have when making a pledge. It would be truly appreciated by me, the entire staff of WFMU, and your fellow listeners who may have already done their part to keep us going. Thank you!

Hellraiser 2024 - ONE WEEK LEFT!

Every October, WFMU conducts its Hellraiser, a mostly off-air fundraiser. It's important for us since it gets us over the hump of the winter months – that time of year when the funds we raised in our spring marathon are beginning to dwindle. If you can, help us out with a donation and grab one of the two new T-shirts exclusive to this fall campaign. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far! We appreciate it! And thanks to the DJs for all the great guests, live band sessions and special theme shows! Donate here: https://pledge.wfmu.org/donate?step=landing

It’s Week 4 of the 2024 October Hellraiser Fundraiser, which means we’re still looking for your financial support to help keep WFMU going until our big fundraising marathon in early 2025. We’re just short of hitting 60% of our goal of 340,000, but there’s only a little over a week left to go. So please, if you haven’t yet made a pledge but think you’d like to, now is as good a time as any! Even as little as $10 will go a long way in keeping as afloat for the next 6 months. If you have already made a contribution, we salute you! 🫡

Now, onto tonight’s program. What can we say, we think we have a cracking episode planned for you tonight. The pics above merely hint at what’s coming up. But that’s up to you to decide. And the best way to do that is to tune in at 6PM ET tonight to WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio and judge for yourself!

Sat. Oct 26th, 6pm - 7pm: “Drop In Presents: Urbane Renewal with Eric Davidson”

East Village Radio DJ Eric Davidson jumps ship over to WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio for an hour of sounds-centric to his 1980s Northeast Ohio club upbringing, warbled down into his DNA before dragging it all to Columbus for schooling and punk rocking as singer in New Bomb Turks.

Drop In is a weekly, free-form program brought to you each Saturday by a guest of Rock And Soul Radio. We are pleased to have Eric join us this week.

The show can be heard at 6PM ET/Midnight CET only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio!
