This Gibson SG is about 50 years old and sounds great...
My first Gibson was this SG, it’s an early 70s model that still has such a chunky rhythm sound to it. I havent tracked in a while with it but added it to the next The Giant Stone single. We always spend plenty of time on pre production (writing) before we track real guitar amps but I’m a big fan of real amps for the final production.

We finally test drove the new Custom Shop Ludwig Drums Set and Meinl Cymbals Byzance Vintage Benny Greb Sand Series Set. To say that it was a blast was an understatement. So stoked to have them as the permanent studio drum set. It’s definitely the best sounding drum tones i have ever heard here. "Icing guitars" for the next release....
We have spent a couple months working on this single. It came in to the label needing a lot of pre-production and arranging help but I heard great potential in the musical ideas and vocals. We spent the time to get it right before tracking because you only get one chance to make a first impression, I can never stress this enough to upcoming artists.
Then when the mix was perfect, the singer asked for me to go add some “icing” guitars to the end. Of course! More guitars always! Haha. With no time limit for my artists and the studio only for them, I happily agreed. I love making my artists happy with their music. “Limitless” is how this artist described working here at TaterVision Studio.

A great day tracking J-Birds in the updated drum room at TaterVision Studio. Todd Bryant is a monster drummer (also available for session work) and did a great job today.
