“It’s a rather blustery day!” said Pooh - This morning, a Big Canoe resident took this video of black bear cubs riding out the last of the winds from Hurricane Helene in a big oak tree near her house. You can only see two cubs in the video, but she said three have been hanging out around her home recently, enjoying acorns from the oak branches. The resident hasn’t seen a momma bear with the cubs but thinks they took note of another larger bear climbing into the tree to munch on acorns and now visit it regularly. The video was taken around 8 a.m. as winds picked up a bit in the area.
Gloria Williams makes the most of this blustery morning with "Red Ace," her diamond stunt kite. What a welcome sight for passing motorists in the West Church Street area. Some spectators stopped a spell to watch her fly. #letsgoflyakite
THEY’RE HERE! THEY’RE HERE! 🚽🧻🚽🧻 There wasn’t a parade, but with all the buildup over the Main Street restrooms one wouldn’t have seemed out of the question. This afternoon just before 3 p.m. the pre-fab restrooms were delivered to Main Street in Jasper, coming from the manufacturer in Indiana where they left on Tuesday. The restrooms will be installed on the pad tomorrow, Friday June 21. Finishing work including masonry will come in the upcoming weeks.
