A few spots could approach brief heat

At 441 PM EDT/341 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Brownstown to 9 miles
northwest of Paoli to 6 miles northeast of Petersburg. Movement was east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Jasper, Madison, Scottsburg, Salem, Paoli, English, Vienna, Charlestown, Huntingburg, and Austin.

The combination of hot temperatures in the low to mid 90s and high relative humidity will lead to peak indices around 100 degrees along and west of I-65 this afternoon. A few spots in southwest Indiana and west central KY could approach brief heat indices near 105 degrees. Late afternoon and early evening storms may bring some relief in spots.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, wear light and loose fitting clothing, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

A domestic situation just outside of Holland, in Dubois County, resulted in a male subject, David Williamson Jr., age 63, allegedly shooting a female victim. The victim is currently in stable condition.

🚨POLICE ARE CONTINUING THEIR SEARCH FOR DAVID WILLIAMSON, JR., AS HE IS STILL AT LARGE AND CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.🚨

He is known to be driving a 2018 Gray Ford F150 with a black toolbox.

David Williamson, Jr., is wanted for questioning. If you have any information on the whereabouts of David Williamson, Jr., or see a vehicle matching this description, please contact the Dubois County Sheriffs Office immediately at 812-482-3522. Do not approach the suspect or the vehicle.

This crash is still under investigation and families of the deceased are in the process of being contacted. For the courtesy of those lost, ANY comments mentioning names of victims will be deleted as official confirmation from the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department has yet to be made.

Update as of 8:11pm:

WITZ News spoke with officials with the Dubois County Sheriff's Office. Deputies are still on the scene. One unidentified individual has been Lifelined with injuries. One unidentified individual has been declared deceased. It is unknown at this time how long Deputies will remain on the scene. WITZ News will have more information as it becomes available.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has forecasted an Air Quality Action Day (AQAD) for Wednesday, June 12, 2024, for parts of Indiana.

Ozone levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range (Orange) in the following areas:

Southwest Indiana, including the counties of:

Dubois
Perry
Orange
Crawford

Higher temperatures with light and variable winds combined with sunny skies and low humidity may lead to increased ozone levels.

IDEM forecasted Air Quality Action Days indicate anticipated higher levels of ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter only. Other factors may affect overall air quality.

Air Quality Action Days are in effect from midnight to 11:59 p.m. (24-hours) on the specified date.
