✨Blue ghost fireflies are back in the Smokies. They're the opening act for the more famous synchronous fireflies. Instead of flashing, male blue ghosts glow continuously as they bob around the understory looking for females. To the human eye, they look like faint, blueish-white orbs. However, long exposure photography reveals both their flight paths and their true color - greenish-yellow. The discrepancy is caused by Purkinje shift, the tendency for the peak luminance sensitivity of the eye to shift toward the blue end of the color spectrum at low illumination levels as part of dark adaptation.

It was extremely hard to get a divorce in medieval Europe, so couples who had enough of each other sometimes opted to end the marriage with a divorce duel. German combat instructor and court adviser Hans Talhofer wrote Fechtbuch (“Fencing Book”) in 1467, an illustrated tome that included techniques for couples engaged in such duels. Since men have obvious physical advantages, things had to get evened out. Hubbies, armed with three clubs, had to fight from inside a waist-high hole about three feet wide, with one hand tied to their body. Wives were armed with three rocks that weighed up to eight pounds, tied in a cloth like a battery in a sock, and could move around the hole freely.

Both sides’ weapons had to be of equal length. A husband who touched the hole’s edge forfeited a club. If he did so three times, he had to continue unarmed. If that happened, he would presumably have to try and wrestle his wife into the hole before she bashed his head in. Talhofer’s manual offered advice about appropriate clothes, best techniques for each gender, and step-by-step instructions to exploit the opponent’s vulnerabilities. The duels were surprisingly fair, and numerous women emerged victorious. Although divorce duels were not to the death, death was the ultimate result. If the wife won, her husband was@executed, and if the husband won, the wife was@buried alive.

Pastor Keion’s explanation was excellent. But, know this: “Pastors’ never throw their followers under a bus, to clear their name.” You take the hit and just, “SAY GOOD”, about the person. Because, they’re Sheep. Disobedient, maybe. Troublesome, at times. But, their soul is more important than vindicating one’s self. I’m not faulting him. I’m saying, sometimes the Church grows bigger than our capacity to cover, in love. People aren’t just a number. Many members, turn on other members and have Pastor-Itis! They’re loyalists.

In conventional wisdom, you don’t have a disobedient member on your stage. But, it’s my perspective that he wasn’t wrong, just not quite right. For instance, imagine, if he’d just gone to her: Laid his hands on her, spoke peace over her. She would’ve calmed down. If she’s prone to emotion. If she’s attention seeking, it’s OK. It’s a fault. Cover it. Don’t say, “be silent, in the name of Jesus”, to a worshipper. Whisper in her ear. But, in the heat of the moment, we can be brash.

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I CAN BE BRASH AND LION FACED, when I should be tender. God, help me. I cast no stones. But, it hurts, because, I’ve talked to God and He said, “THIS IS WHAT CARING MORE FOR THE PRODUCTION, THAN THE PERSON, LOOKS LIKE!” And I wept. He should’ve covered her. Publicly, on National TV, he should’ve said, “SHE’S A LOVELY PERSON!” It was just a moment. I am weeping, because, in my time, I HAVE HURT MANY, even though, my heart was TOWARD GOD!

This Day In History May 8 1886 American pharmacist John S. Pemberton developed Coca-Cola, a drink he originally billed as a cure-all tonic.

On May 8, 1886, Dr. John Stith Pemberton invented Coca-Cola, forever changing the history of eating habits around the world. The drink’s name refers to two of its original ingredients: coca leaves and kola nuts (a source of caffeine). Since he was a pharmacist from Atlanta he had access to a variety of chemicals and natural ingredients. One day, he prepared a dark coloured liquid and decided to take it to his shop, Jacobs' Pharmacy, to mix it with carbonated water. At this point, a test was needed. So he had the customers of the pharmacy taste it, who greatly appreciated the delicious and refreshing drink. From that day Pemberton put the forerunner of the current Coca-Cola on sale at five cents a glass as a takeaway drink.

The logo as we know it today was invented and designed by Frank M. Robinson, Dr. Pemberton's accountant, who thought that the two Cs would have made a nice advertising logo. The Coca-Cola brand - written in its famous italics font - was born with a first advertising campaign dedicated to the drink appeared in the newspaper The Atlanta Journal, inviting citizens to try this "popular new take-out drink". The advertising campaign for the product launch appeared on the first awnings of the shops, on which the words "Drink Coca-Cola" stood out. But the beginnings were not exciting: in the first year they sold just about nine glasses a day.

In 1887 John Pemberton registered the copyright of Coca-Cola Syrup and Extract with the US Patent Office. A year later, disheartened by the lack of success of his invention and never fully convinced - and aware - of the drink's potential, he gradually sold the company's shares to various partners. Shortly before his death, he sold the rest of Coca-Cola to Asa G. Candler who bought back the shares of other holders until he acquired complete control of the company.

A woman arrived in a store wearing clothes that showed her body all too well. The shop owner, being a wise older man, took a good look at her, asked her to sit down, looked straight into her eyes, and said something she would never forget for the rest of her life.
“Young Lady, everything that God has made valuable in this world, is covered up and hard to see or find."
For example:
1. Where can you find diamonds?
• In the ground, covered and protected.
2. Where are the pearls?
• Deep in the ocean, covered and protected in a beautiful shell.
3. Where can you find gold?
• Underground, covered with layers of rock, and to get there you have to work very hard and dig deep.
He looked at her again and said, "Your body is sacred and unique to God."
You are far more precious than gold, diamonds, and pearls, therefore you must be covered too.
He then added: "If you keep your precious minerals like gold, diamonds, and pearls deeply covered, a “reputable mining organization” with the necessary machines, will work for years to mine those precious goods.
* First, they will contact your government (family),
* Second, sign professional contracts (marriage),
* Third, they will professionally extract those goods, and tenderly refine those precious goods. (marital life).
But if you let your minerals find themselves on top of the Earth's surface (exposed to everyone), you will always attract many illegal miners to come, exploit, illegally, and freely take those riches and leave you without the precious goods God gave you!

Powerful.. Joshua Dyer (aged 14) was tasked at school to write a poem for Remembrance Day. An hour later (without any help) he produced this..

ONE THOUSAND MEN ARE WALKING
One thousand men are walking
Walking side by side
Singing songs from home
The spirit as their guide

They walk toward the light milord,
they walk towards the sun
they smoke and laugh and smile together
no foes to outrun.

These men live on forever
in the hearts of those they saved
a nation truly grateful
for the path of peace they paved.

They march as friends and comrades
but they do not march for war
step closer to salvation
a tranquil steady corps
the meadows lit with golden beams
a beacon for the brave
the emerald grass untrampled
a reward for what they gave.

They dream of those they left behind

I went from 203 to 137 faster than I though was possible. And, I'll never forget the look on my doctor's face when I walked into his office for my annual checkup.

“Are you doing that “Rice Method” I told you about?”, he stuttered.

So, I told him I've been doing it for the last few months and how it's really transforming my life and health.

"Nothing has EVER worked so fast for me!", I said with a BIG smile.

Even the nurses were complimenting me on my transformation and asking me how I had done it at my age.
