Taco bout a grand opening Taco Bell is now open.

Jackson, Ga - Taco Bell opened its doors and drive thru to hungry customers on Monday, Oct. 21. Taco Bell formerly KFC / Taco Bell located on 561 E 3rd St. had a line wrapped around the building all the way to World Finace. Many customers expressed frustrations with the former KFC/ Taco Bell however new Store Manager Quanna Abraham wants to change that. “ I’m excited, customers come first, it’s going to take time, I ask for y’all to be patient with us it’s coming along, “ said Abraham.
Taco Bell has a full menu and will be open from 10 am until 10 pm Monday through Sunday.

Jackson, Ga - Day one of Stranger Things Con is underway with meet and greets, tours, and food trucks. Jackson Beat spoke with several super fans from all over who were amazed with downtown Jackson and it’s filming locations. “ I’m overwhelmed with emotion, “ said Amanda. The Jackson Police Department celebrates National Faith and Blue Weekend with tailgate

Jackson, Ga - The Jackson Police Department celebrated National Faith and Blue Weekend at The Orchard with a tailgate. Community members got the chance to watch football, eat and converse with police officers. National Faith and Blue weekend mission is to engage the community through faith - based outreach.
“ We are trying to build a community oriented department, where the people know who we are, that we can get out and depend on each other. We can’t solve crimes if we don’t have community input, “ said Chief of Police David Akins
National Faith and Blue Weekend is celebrated every October.

4-H hosts first open community project at Sims-Patterson Park.

Jackson, Ga - 4-H hosts first open community project for the youth at Sims - Patterson Park. Sims - Patterson park located at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and Oak St. in Jackson features a walking path and pavilions. Ashleigh Cagle with UGA Extension Butts Co. saw the park sitting emptying and wanted to bring fun to the park by reaching local kids in the community. “ We are doing community outreach because there is a need in the community for something for younger kids, we are hoping to do community outreach once a month, the theme will always go around agriculture,” said Cagle.

Rain doesn’t stop Unite 2 Fight breast cancer awareness walk

Jackson, Ga - Community members weathered the rain in support of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and Butts Men of Action Unite 2 Fight breast cancer walk. The Unite 2 Fight breast cancer awareness walk ran from 8 a.m until 12 p.m at the track at Daughtry Park. The multipurpose event organized by Butts Co. native Nicola McClendon wants to bring cancer awareness and unity to the community. “Everyday someone is losing their life to cancer right here in Butts Co. We would like to bring Sisters by Choice mobile breast clinic to Butts Co. to serve men and women who don’t have access to breast healthcare,” said McClendon.

Sunrise Nutrition brings something new to Jackson

Jackson, Ga- Since opening in December of 2023 Sunrise Nutrition on 27 N Holley St has steady picked up business. Wanting to bring something new to Jackson Sunrise Nutrition offers a full menu for kids and adults. From meal replacement shakes, Coffee, belly fat shots, and their best seller loaded teas, there is plenty to try.
At 29, Sunrise Nutrition owner Tiffany Kelley wasn’t sure what to expect when she opened her small business in Jackson. “ Everyone has amazed me, from the amount of support we’ve gotten and the kindness we’ve received I’m amazed,“ said Kelley.
Wanting to give back to the community Kelley decided to make a tea that would help a customer affected by cancer. The Tessa June Tea, which has a tart white grape flavor will be available throughout June with a portion of the proceeds going towards the family.
Sunrise Nutrition is open Mon. through Fri. from 7 a.m to 5 p.m and Sat. from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. “Give us a try,” said Kelley.

Summer Reading Program off to a good start

Jackson, Ga - More than 100 kids attended Jackson- Butts County Library’s first Summer Reading Program Show at The Butts County Performing Arts Center. The Summer Reading Program Show featuring The Science Machine engaged the crowd with various science experiments. The show which is apart of the library’s Summer Reading Program will feature various acts for all ages every Tue. at 10 am and 1 pm throughout June and July. “The reason we have these programs is to encourage the children to get excited to get books. We see a 70% increase of kids coming into the library during the summer time,” said Cathy Kelly library Manager.
This year the Summer Reading Program is being sponsored by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson - Butts County Rotary Club, and Butts County Parks and Recreation.
