Brian Epstein

"Brian was something of a hypochondriac. He’d take pills to make him sleep, pills to make him stay awake, anxiety pills, and heaven only knows what else. The meteoric rise to fame of his boys got a little too much for him, and he suffered as a result. On the day that he died, Jim, Ruth and I had driven to Bangor University in North Wales, where The Beatles were attending an event led by The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It was a British Bank Holiday weekend, and I drove Jim and Ruth to the location. We had some light refreshments in the canteen, which had long wooden tables, paper plates, water to drink (no filthy alcohol), but clouds of a misty substance from the jazz ci******es consumed by the many ‘“peace and love” participants in this mind-melding session. The scent of joss sticks filled the air.

As we got in the car to leave, and Paul stuck his head in the car window to bid his dad farewell, the other George Harrison, (a journalist from the Liverpool Echo), came to the top of the steps and shouted to Paul, “Hey there Paul, Brian’s on the phone from London … he wants to talk to you about his trip up here tomorrow,” he yelled. Little did we know that a few hours later it would be announced that he was dead."

"I was pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to a birthday party of Reverend Jesse Jackson way back in October 2012. It was held at The Ritz Carlton in Downtown Los Angeles, and was a very elaborate affair. We were a little curious as to why we would be on such a celebrity guest list, but once the party began, we quickly realized that he was a huge Beatles fan. Dame Petula Clark

"Petula Clark, CBE - Petula Sally Olwen Clark, CBE, is an English singer, actress, and composer. She has had one of the longest-running careers and spans over seven decades. She began her career during World War II, and has continued touring into the 2020s. She still delights audiences wherever she appears. Ruth and I had the pleasure of meeting her in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was appearing as David Cassidy’s mother in Blood Brothers. John Cleese

"Having been long-time followers of John Cleese’s career, we were delighted when he became a client of McCartney Multimedia. Needing a website, social media, and all manner of research into his prolific past, he supplied us with valuable books and archives from his BBC days. John would frequently drive from his home in Montecito to spend time at our Playa del Rey offices. Whenever it was necessary for him to stay overnight, he was welcomed at the nearby Inn at Playa del Rey. They even made a special purchase of an extra-long bed to ensure that he got a good night’s sleep. (For the record, he is 6’7” tall). Read more in my new book "
