A mentor once told me that I tend to build my own village (s).
In other words, I look for the people whom I know I need to make me a better person.
A selfish perspective?
I tend to disagree.
Because we all need a village of people: to raise a child, to build a brand… so support any human being on this earth — as we aren’t meant to do life alone.
Yes? 🙌🏼
So why not choose the people that will make up your personal village?
Find the people that will support you, cheer you on, hold you through the tough times… those that allow you to live your best life, and be yourself.
If the village you have (that you’ve defaulted to) doesn’t do that for you, then it’s not serving you.
Time to go build your own. ❤️
And I am grateful to have chosen to be around the people I know are good for me… the people I choose to support and who support me back… that they are happy to have me in their village too. 🙏🏼

Trust is a word that has gotten thrown around a lot in the last few weeks.
🫵 Trust in people (and what they say, who they endorse, what they do)

Trust is especially important when you intend to convince people about a product, an idea, or a brand.
I used to say that customers buy (or buy into) a brand because there’s a certain amount of TRUST they put into that relationship.
In an era of social media when so many people have something to offer and there is less of an interpersonal interaction, the fastest way to build and gain trust is by engaging with your customers when they notice your post, story or reel.
How can you produce content and continue to engage so that people not only like you but trust you?

An important principle I have adhered to ever since I left my corporate life.
I realize now as I look back, how important it was for me to have that flexibility; where I could work and still “see the world” — at least that was the dream when I was young.
In fact I remember when first hired employees, and I would always say, “for as long as you get the work done, and done on time and done well… you can work from anywhere.” We wanted that, we lived that, and let our team live it too.
Now as a mom building her business AND juggling the kids’ needs and schedules, I find that it is a way of life.
🐾 Winter needs a routine check up at the vet… no big deal — I have a steering wheel table in the car for the laptop and the notebook. ✅ .
“Mom can we go to the mall after volleyball practice 🏐 …” Yes you can… i just bring the laptop and park myself at a coffee shop. ☕️
“Mom, I’m a nominated youth delegate for the UN World Oceans Day, can we go to New York …🗽”. Yes, and why don’t we spend a week there too exploring the city (with my headphones and my cellphone). 🏙️
All made possible first because of mobile and virtual connectivity… but beyond that, I believe because I know that working from anywhere is possible and very doable.
Does it involve juggling? Yes. Quite a bit of juggling in fact.
But…
💕 I spend quality time with my kids
💰 I get the work done
🏖️ I get to have fun and do what I love in the process.

My most recent trip here with the girls illuminated all the more for me how a place is also a brand on its own.
And of course Alisha Keys’ song resonates all the more…
Literally— where some of ’s dreams have come true too — because of her experience at the conference at the United Nations.
And all that Jamie has read up and researched about it based on what she’s heard and discovered.
It made for an interesting — but wonderful — trip. 💕
Yes… cities and states can be brands on their own too — even my own teens noticed it.
The culture, the vibe, way of being, the environment, the food… the people … and the sites — all part of the brand puzzle 🧩 that is New York.
On one of our tours the guide said, “if you’re from New York you’ll get this joke…” and when he told it, all the New Yorkers laughed.
That is essentially what branding is all about.
🤝 Relationships.
💡Associations.
🫶 Connections.

We know the saying, “it takes a village to raise a child… 🧒”
I will tell you the same is true for running a race (or — any other aspect in life and business for that matter. 🏃🏽♀️)
While the photo may show one runner and one medal, I have much for everyone that has been a part of the journey to get here.
All my coaches — from mindset 🧠 , heart-set ❤️ running technique 🏃🏽♀️ , down to nutrition 💦
🙌🏼 All the support, love, and encouragement from workout buddies and friends and family has carried me through — especially when it got extra tough today.
While the result on paper was 4 mins better than last year 💪🏼 , it wasn’t the result I was hoping for.
HOWEVER.
As I reflect on the main differences of this year which the eyes 👀 sometimes do not see — being better prepared, healthier and stronger over all, more consistent, and enjoying the entire journey — everything I’ve gained this is waayyy better than expected. 🙏🏼
Success may look different at every turn — we just have to remember that as life (and business will go up and down).
I’m so very grateful for it all. ❤️
And the success on paper? … well.. there’s always next year 😉 It’s on its way.

While I am not necessarily a die hard collector of Funko Pop, I love that I am now one! With my daily athleisure wear uniform, a coffee ☕️ in hand, my work laptop AND Winter by my side, it captures the essence of my brand in my daily life. 🧩
The messaging on the box is also quite brilliant. “There are a million ways to create a Pop! But only one you.” 🤩
I love the idea that I am the only one with this Jenny Reyes version of Funko — and it makes me want to go get Pops! for all the people I care about too… and remind them of that truth: that there is only one you. ❤️

My dearest friend .armstrong has taken 7️⃣0️⃣🥳 trips around the sun ☀️.
In celebration of this milestone, our little group ran a half marathon (yes 13.1 miles! 🏃🏽♀️) — because Grammy Kathy is fun and awesome and so very fit… and does these kinds of things! (Needless to say, this was not her first rodeo.) 😉
That alone was a unique kind of birthday party, and already speaks volumes to the type of super Grammy that she is.
It was such a privilege to create this visual that captured her essence and what she loves… and together we collaborated to put it on one of her signature workout items — a cap, worn in front of thousands of other people. 🧢
We got so many positive comments and curious questions about the cap, the design and what we were all about 🩵
turned out to be quite the conversation starter!
It made me think of how one piece of your brand puzzle 🧩 can be the key for people to learn more about you.
It was such fun and I’m so happy I got to play a small part in bringing Grammy’s awesome brand to life! 😘

The number of times it FEELS like I’ve entered a in the last 6 months.
0️⃣: the number of times I ACTUALLY entered a Sephora store to purchase something for ME. 🫠
Remember, I have daughters. 🤣🤣🤣
And how is it that growing up decades ago, Sephora was something I knew to be a sophisticated, bordering-on-luxury, adult brand?
And yet in the last 7, 316 times (give or take a few hundred) I’ve stepped inside their shops … all I see are teens, tweens and young adults. 🤯
I tell you, I probably drive the average age upwards.
Putting my brand hat on though, this I will say…
To me there’s a very powerful lesson about reinventing your brand to stay relevant and current in these ever changing times. 🎤

🔑 HERE’S an effective tool that drives meaningful and sustainable successful collaborations. It mostly costs nothing… maybe $5 at best (depending on where you get your coffee 😉).
Seriously though… I’ve found that conversations are usually the best starting point to an authentic genuine partnership. 🧩
The ☕️ is of course a nice added bonus. 😉
When I look back at the people, partners and clients that I do life and business with, it’s always began with an honest and open conversation… and yes sometimes an invitation for coffee.
It’s the best way to get a sense of who they are and give them a sense of who you are as well.
For me, it’s never really been about the business upfront but rather the connection. When you like each other, you can trust one another… and then everything else can follow.
🤓Is this someone who I can be myself with?
🪴Is this a person who will help me be better, and me them?
💕 Is this someone who I would love to develop a relationship with long-term?
Usually when the answer is yes to all three, they not only become great business collaborators but also lifelong friends, and people I get to have in my circle.
I’m always open for a cup of coffee and conversation whenever you are. ❤️

🧩 TOP OF MIND. 🚙
Volvo is the family ride precisely because safety was my biggest priority in the decision making process we made as we searched for our next car.
Safety has been their core message ever since I started driving decades ago.
Building and developing a consistent message over time is a key part of creating a brand people will come to know, like, trust — and be loyal to over time.

I believe in building meaningful brands; where it’s not just about another commodity and another service, but rather something that changes lives and touches hearts.

There is so much that goes into each conversation about going beyond just fulfilling a need.
And it’s not a sale just for the “heck of it”, but really a transaction that can — and will — change a person’s way of life for the better.
Capturing their heart is capturing attention, retention and loyalty, and that is the formula for a sustainable business (and brand).
As we all create what’s next for our respective clients and the people that we want to serve, think about what speaks to their hearts.

It’s been about a year since I started volunteering my time as part of the Gold Award Support Committee, advising girls on their projects. Like a capstone project, the Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve, because it means she’s identified a global issue and has led a team through a sustainable solution.
As the committee asked me to reflect back on the year, I shared how fun it has been, and how I also realized that much of the process is similar and complimentary to what I take clients through as they build their brands and bring them to life. 🧩
It was also a great to recognize that these girls are steps ahead… learning life skills early on in life.
Imagine how much of a bigger impact they will have on society as they get older. 🤩
A lot of the projects I’ve been asked to support inspire me and amaze me, and I look forward to what these girls set out to do and how they are going to change the world. 🌍
Tonight’s meaningful and symbolic giveaway was a flashlight, with the message “Thank you for shining your light.” 💚
I wish that for all of us too. 💫
And to the girls that I’ve supported and continue to support through this process, I thank you for allowing me to play a small part as you shine your light. 🙏🏼

🧩 Create traditions around your brand helps people anticipate, know and plan around it — and you.
It is an integral bit of the over-all brand puzzle that you attempt to build.
fit’s has become an annual event (four years in a row!) for my husband and me.
It’s simple and at the same time each year when we look at the calendar, we know when it’s happening.
We haven’t missed one since it started. And already we’re looking forward to the next one.
Do things change with each event? Absolutely. #
The pricing, the race course, the circumstances… as your brand evolves things can change — not better or worse, just different. And that’s ok 👌🏽
The constant remains: we get up for an 8am start to see in his Turkey 🦃 costume, burn calories, get steps in and have fun while doing it. 😊

I type this as I board my next flight on
If you look at my stories, I started my day today with a surprise and delight gift from the on ground staff.
Breakfast, coffee and bonus rapid reward points to make our wait all the more pleasant.
And over the years I’ve traveled, I’ve loved Southwest’s campaigns as they brand position themselves in the minds and hearts of their customers.

How can you be a brand that people trust?
Statistics show this is a factor in consumer behavior.
And if you think about your own habits around where and how you spend your money:
🤝 when a brand is referred to you by someone YOU trust, it goes up on your consideration set;
🍎 there’s no “second thought” when you’ve established trust with a brand.
I have a story around and how I built my business around it. So of course, when you talk to me about Apple products, it’s a “no brainer” for me;
🥇 when a brand has a proven track record — shown in numbers, years of experience, results, a track record … these are some examples.
Brand Trust is a 🧲 magnet.
Building trust in you and your brand is a surefire strategy to grow and sustain your business.

This is how I know that marketing works (and is the best thing for you and your business!) 👇🏻
…”NO PETS. EVER.”
My mind and heart were set and made up. There was no way my life and home were going to get turned upside down by anything furry, or four-legged.
But then… there was Jamie with a heart of gold for all little things furry, cute and cuddly. Also, with a brilliant (and persistent) mind. 😘
Over COVID she created a very compelling and omnipresent marketing campaign around WHY we should get a dog. 🙃
First, the prayers 🙏🏼: “thank you for our future family puppy.”
Already saying it like it was done. ✅
Then, the reminders.
“Did you know that puppies help decrease depression and anxiety?” (Something like that….)
All sorts of facts and tidbits she had researched… and all very timely and relevant too! ✅
And then… posters. 🐶 Pictures around the house in places where she knew and I would look (including one right at the eye-level of when you’d sit down on the toilet 🚽) 😅 ✅
Needless to say, we are three years into being a family of 5, with Winter my constant companion and officemate.
💕 And life has never been better. 🐶
Marketing is often seen as challenging, stressful, and icky… but this story right here exhibits none of that.
And that is the essence of marketing that we often forget.
🌟What you have in your heart can change someone’s life for the better. 🌟
Marketing it really just a way of sharing that.
It gives people a chance to have a change of heart and most likely, a better life. 😉

Lately it’s just been “go go go.”
Business. Kids. Family. Errands. Commitments. All of it and everything in between.
You can probably relate 😉
📌 Feeling the need to get things done
📌 Feeling the stress if it doesn’t
📌 Feeling like there’s still more to do
But here’s a little I’d love to share this Sunday.
As I sat down with my cup of coffee, a million to do’s running through my head as I was ready to move to the next thing on my list, Winter climbed on my lap and plopped herself down, as if to say: STOP 🛑
Just pause.
And sit for a minute.
To just BE. 🐾
A little bit of a break, whatever that might look like for you to just be.
And don’t say you can’t! 😘
We definitely can.
We’re just used to doing that we often forget the importance of being.
Up until now. 😘
Take a pause. A time to reset, recharge and refuel for you — and for all those lives you touch. 💪🏼
If you’re like me, I know it takes practice. But if I can do it, then I know you can too.👊🏼

Your Brand Story (Philippines) started out as an unmet need that my friend Kris and I saw, when we were both Brand Managers in two different multinational companies. Back then, both newly married (we like to joke, “not to each other!”) and still working 14-hour days, Kris and I decided we wanted to take control of our time and offer a solution to other brand managers like ourselves.
In 2005 we took a take a leap of faith and left our jobs to launch Your Brand Story Philippines. Positioned as a marketing consultancy, it gave clients an “extra brand manager” that could do work that fell between the cracks of a brand manager without a creative and executive team.
Our training and background allowed us to offer everything from Brand Development all the way to events marketing, and up until recently, digital marketing and CRM development. We had built quite the network of partners and suppliers that could help us satisfy client needs, based on the values we both espouse and agree on.
YBS grew for 10 years until my family migrated to California. Kris continued YBS in the Philippines until she opted to do her own private consulting services. Once I had settled my family down in our new living environment, I too started marketing consulting to local businesses, but felt the need to brand my services. I felt it would speak more about my experiences and the value I could offer to potential clients.
Kris and I have always maintained our learning and interest in marketing and branding discussions, and continue to share from recent experiences and courses we’ve taken. It was during one of these learning sessions when we decided that I would re-launch the brand here in California.
With all that has come and all that currently is, I look forward to helping you grow your business and telling your brand’s story.
