Switching hats for a second today and heading over to the annual Authorpalooza at the Crystal Falls District Community Library from 11:30-2:30!

There’s room for one more pirate aboard Captain Mustache’s ship in the Magic Shoebox Adventures book two: ”An unlucky companion”

Submit your pirate’s name, duty on deck, pet, and superstition by June 15 to be entered in the contest.

The winner will be chosen based on best fit to the book and creativity and announced on June 30, 2023.

Season of Dragon Paperbacks are now live on Amazon (a month early!)

Signed paperbacks and merchandise will be available to purchase at a book signing event at the beginning of February for those that are local! (There will also be a chance to win a giant surprise-filled mystery dragon egg.)

Once I get my copies in, libraries across the UP will also have them.

Season of Dragons (Magic Shoebox Adventures)

While Season of Dragons doesn’t feature a character with a physical disability, it does feature an MC with ADHD. The second book (which will release in 2024) has a pirate that carries an Epi pen, and the third book (2025) has a character with an insulin pump.

It’s important for young readers to see real things like this, even in fantasy books, which is why this series has been such an amazing thing to write and plot.

Are you a fan of dragons, fantasy lands, ADHD representation and found family tropes in middle-grade books?

My upcoming book, Season of Dragons, is in need of a street team. The book releases in February and advanced reader copies (ARCs) will be sent out after Christmas.

What’s a street team? A street team is a group of readers excited about a new book. They come together and share updates, release information, and a review on Amazon and/or goodreads on publication day.

My local school district has started a program initiative called “Every Child, Every Month,” where students from the elementary school will get a brand new book to take home each month.

Since this relies on sponsorship, I have decided to take 50% of all profits from my books for the remainder of summer (purchase on Amazon) or at A Bit of Whimsy and put it towards that program.

Kids need books in their hands and as a kid who relied on programs like this and my library to get books, it’s my chance to make it happen for other kids.
